Hi all,

Indeed time to visit a contest in the Netherlands! Wink So far we already have a lot of positive feedback so here is hoping for an excellent turn out and some of the best indoor scale flying!

thanks for the welcome Graham! I was a member for a while already, but past year didn't have time for much building, that should be different in 2015 Smiley

Everyone get the building board out! Smiley

Best regards,
Roel

Well Roel, I am going to put this in the diary. We know people who live in Nieuwegein which is probably an hour away.  However I take it that there are places we could stay in Nijmegen? I might decide to make a trip to Arnhem.

If we could travel in a straight line it is not very far from here but going via the tunnel is probably as long as the ferry!!

David JP

I was thinking of doing this event as well.
I have friends in Nijmegan who have offered to run me a guided tour of the Arnhem and Nijmegan battles and museums etc. so was thinking of a weeks holiday there finishing off with Interscale.

You can take a look at the website. This was the information from 2010. There you also can find a list of accommodations. Different hotels and some bed and breakfast accommodations. You can also email Roel for more information or help.

Hi all,

Good to year yet again a lot of enthousiasm! Smiley

To answer your question basically; yes there are quite some places to stay in Nijmegen. A lot of places to visit or see besides our contest as well! The full invitation with more info will follow in february, this will among other things contain a list of hotels/b&b's. Naturally if you have any questions you can always contact me!

Best regards,

Roel,

what is the nearest or most convenient airport, and what is the best means of transport from the airport? Is rental car needed, or are there e.g. train connections?

Thanks!

I am not so sure about that... This is going to be Interscale, not IIFI, so I think it is scale only...

Just for my own curiosity, are there any flyers who will go, or thinking to go to Holland for the first time for this event?

I'm seriously considering it, having heard so many good things from some who went in 2010. I'd like to know what classes there are. Will it be the same as 2010?
In the end it will come down to practicalities of getting there, money, wife's opinion etc.!

Yes, thanks Bernard. That's all good to know!
For me, the main question is how to get there. Easily my most logical route is to get the overnight ferry from Hull (which is virtually where I live) to Rotterdam. Then it's just a short drive of less than 70 miles through Holland, which is a much shorter distance than I often drive to events here in the UK. Only snag is that it's not very cheap that way!
Very tempting though. It would also be a great incentive to build the Antoinette model I'm planning, but which I doubt can now be done in time for the British Indoor Nats in April.

Is the ferry from Dover to Calais not cheaper/faster? Used it a few times to get to England. From Calais the drive is also doable.

And I know Divs Masters and his travelling group travel by train trough the tunnel with there cars.

I'm hoping to finally be in a position to make the trip this time.  I have the same issues as Pete F. (minus wifey's permission Wink) but after years of false starts, I may actually make it.

Just looked up at gogle-maps how far it is, 1265km  Angry
But could stop half way through at my home town in Switzerland, makes up for a 2 day travel with less stress.
Got working on my permission  Grin
