Hi All,

Very preliminary posting just to put the date in your diaries.

Venue will be the University of Wolverhampton Sports Centre in Walsall, as it has been for the past two years.

Further info in due course.

Thanks Graham ... I always look forward to it, competing or spectating.

Good to have the date so early .... I am one of the world's worst at planning so it gives plenty of time to sink in.
This year's event was a busy one which can cause the odd problem ... happy to help if I can (or if I don't think I will cause a bigger problem!)

Many thanks Russ: you and Jayne are already on the conscripts, sorry: helpers and judges list!

We are getting ahead of the game this year to minimise the inevitable last minute rush. There will always be glitches, but we are taking steps to iron out the ones from last year.

On thing I learned until now doing the IIFI meeting. Try to get the competitors give you a model choice. This makes things so much easier.

Good luck with organizing this meeting.

One question Graham,

Which classes can we compete in?

Larissa and I are planning to come, first lets see how it play's out with the models and work, but we are trying to come along with the other Dutch invasion.

Bernard

Hi Bernard,

Firstly many thanks and congratulations to you and everyone else involved for a magnificent IIFI. We all enjoyed it immensely, and will be back next year!

On to the indoor nats: classes are:

F4D open rubber
F4E open CO2/ electric
Peanut
Pistachio
Glider
Kit Scale

There will also be an air race, but it is likely the mass launch will be dropped due to time constraints.
Also, please be aware that unlike the IIFI, we will operate the one model per competitor per class restriction.

Looking forward to seeing you, Larissa and rest of the Dutch contingent next year. More information will be available soon.

Best wishes

Graham

Graham,
it was great meeting you at the IIFI!  Will there be opportunity for trim flights on Saturday?

Thank you Graham for the kind words about the IIFI.

But I keep saying without flyers, so you, it's not possible to have a successful event.

Thank you for the classes involved. I'm aware of the one model per class rule.

Will let you know if we will make it to get some models finished.

Regards,

Bernard

OK, so I have found out that a commitment on my calendar is not going to clash with the indoor nationals this year. I have a kitscale entry already built (Comet Me109), but now I am wondering if I can get an open entry built in double quick time, without getting in the way of my outdoor scale entry. I can build quick when I need to...

Go for it, Rich, you've still got nearly two and a half months! Maybe not go for anything TOO complicated though?
(How about a nice Lacey for instance? They're always good to see.)

I've already started something as you know. Just got the wings to build.... If I can't do it, I've got the kitscale event to enjoy.

Seeing as I completely failed to trim my KS model at Nottingham yesterday, I may build a Lacey just to annoy Pete...!

Cheers,

Dan.

I wouldn't say failed Dan ... I thought it was progressing well.
You ran out of time maybe, but it's certainly progressing.

Cheers Russ! I don't think I'll get it sorted for April, though. Andrew suggested a right turn. That may be worth trying, but it will be outdoors...!

The tip weight on the last flight seemed to straighten it right up, so I would try re-introducing the left hand rudder a little perhaps?
(unless you changed both? ... it's far easier being 'Harry Enfield' on the outside!)

I only changed one thing at a time. Too much for my brain to cope with altering two things at once! I've not given up yet as it should have everything going for it. Back to basics and check for warps first. It's a rigidly braced biplane, so it should be stable, but it has been in a box for 4 years...

I've only flown my KS entry once and fortunately that was outside because it certainly wasn't flying in hall sized circles. Hopefully it won't mind being forced to fly tighter circles because I don't like the noise a wall makes.

My Bluebottle Me109 only flies in wide circles too. Okay at the Velodrome, but otherwise seems to need an outdoor space.

Dan, a CO2 Lacey purring round sweetly, maybe in its rarer silver finish, might be just the model to cure my Laceyphobia!

I'm probably being dense, but not sure I remember, unless it's the one you were thinking of building but I didn't know you'd started yet.

Decision made then, Pete! I've got the AM with Andy Sephton's scale drawings etc. and I think there is a pic or two of the silver finish in there. I might just go for the familiar red and white scheme...

Or I might do something else entirely!

Hi All,

Please find attached the entry form and timetable for this event. Both documents should provide most of the info required, but don't hesitate to ask if you need to know more. You will note we have had to drop the mass launch event due to time constraints.

Please note the closing date for entries: Friday 7 April 2017

The official entry form will be available as a pdf file on the BMFA & Scale Tech website. This is to save space in the BMFA news, and I understand this will be the standard format for all comp entry forms going forward for this reason.

If you are intending to come along to both this and the RC indoor Nats at  RAF Shawbury on 26 March 2017, by all means send both entries to me in one envelope, but please write separate cheques for the fees for each event, so I can keep the financial sides separate.

Don't forget the other trimming opportunity at Bushfield Leisure Centre, Peterborough, on 9 April 2017

Hi All,

Please note: until i get a chance to post a replacement: the eagle eyed may have spotted a reference to the mass launch in the small print at the very bottom of the timetable above: please disregard: the mass launch isn't happening, as i mentioned in the above post.

New fillable PDF entry forms are now held here:  http://bmfa-nats.org/entry-booking-forms  for those who prefer to email in their entries to Graham
This is a new website for all the BMFA Nationals competitions created by Andy Symons to ease finding the various forms needed.
It has the entries both for the March Indoor R/C scale Nats at Shawbury as well as the April Indoor F/F Nats to be held at Walsall.
