I'm the Chair o the National Free Flight Society (NFFS) Model of the Year (MoY) committee. Once again I'm interested in finding out which designs or innovations in indoor free flight Impressed you in 2016. All I need to know at this stage is the name of the model, the name of the model designer/flyer, and why you were impressed. Anything is fair game.

Last year this informal questionnaire on Hippocket lead to the selection of two winning designs, Zoltan Sukosd's F1D and Monz Lyons Avro Shackleton 4 engine rubber scale model.

I nominate Mr. M Ishii and his F1N Indoor Glider for Category 2 ceiling.
He is the pioneer of Low Drag Airfoil and have had great and various influences on all free flight fields.
He broke F1N category 2 world record on 5 July 2016 in Tokyo, Japan.
His model is the first LOW ceiling (8-15 meters) DISCUS launch glider that broke an official world record.

There may be two issues. First, he may not be a member of NFFS as of today. Secondly, he is not very good at English.

Kang's 2016 w/c model. I consider it to be pretty highly advanced, and one of only two carbon prop F1D's to win the world title. The stick bracing method is unique, too. Kang's current series of F1D's is probably the most competitively successful in the world over the past 4 years and holds the highest recorded flight times for Cat I and Cat IV with enough repeat performances that it's definitely not a matter of thermals in Lakehurst.

Aki,

"There may be two issues. First, he may not be a member of NFFS as of today. Secondly, he is not very good at English."
Neither NFFS membership or language prohibit receiving this award.

Are there photos or plans online?

He has not published the plan yet. There may be the photo online though I have not found it.
The record flight is uploaded to Youtube.
I was the official observer at the record trial.
