I read the book Tales of an Ancient modeler again recently and highly recommend it for anyone interested in model aviation. The first part of the book is Norm flying large free flight gas planes by riding a New York subway to get to a park to fly. Later in the book Norm is flying radio control with the primitive equipment of the time. I did a blog post on this and my first experiences with RC.
