John, Roman, thanks.  And yes, we need to find a bigger flying site.  I've already torn up the Tempest once flying past the fences, and only the intercession of one of the few trees on the boundary kept the Skyraider safe last week...

I have news from Bruce that he has located much larger fields near the Palo Alto College campus. Got to get with Bruce and scout it out.  Mike really needs a bigger field... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Roll Eyes went flyin tonite at the gym
1`) my wilder wildcat.  needs a wee bit o weight in the nose.  also flying surfaces breaks way too easily.
2) J bell p40.  needs weight in the nose. otherwise has good potential to fly on three blades.
3) la 5 by Dave Diels.  needs work, lots of work.  it flies for a few feet then crashes.
4) motor stick model. flew once then crashed and broke up.
5) guillows jet stream  flys sweet!.  Note If you buy this model the wing needs more dihedral.  soak the center portion and crank it up an inch/tip. it will then fly like stink!

Back from my first Fab Feb at Lost Hills.
The weather was challenging to say the least, but the sun did shine, and we got some good flying in.
There are some good photo collections by various people on Flickr (Brian Furutani and Tom Faith posted good selections from the Isaacson).

Here are just a few from my camera.

Mick Lester with his all carbon, self built F1C.

Apart from a series of FAI contests, Fab. Feb. featured one other serious contest, the Aussie Rules Scramble.
Tahn Stowe produced a number of these flying carpet designs with various versions of Mills diesel for power.
Here's the Team Canada version which appears to have neither Brian Eggleston nor Tony Matthews influence.
Jack Murphy stepped in to act as runner, but we were well beaten by the Swiss.

Glad you got out to LH John,
most years the weather is awesome. This year was obviously the exception. Hope to see you at Lost Hills and the trials next year with your F1Cs in hand. For that matter would be good to see you at the Oregon contest in Sept.

Great to see you getting out to contests.

Thanks, Bernard.
I'm a regular at the Oregon contests, of course (well, since 2011), although I don't get to the top of the results very regularly  Smiley

Looking forward to them already!

 Grin flew a bunch tonite
1) profile P51    It flies nice under power but can't glide worth a (Hoover) dam.
2) Skyshark from my build not the airlane.  One wing low then dived. I Flapped one side and she started to fly more level before tip stalling,  Progress is being made
3) Guillows Sky raider  Didn't have right nose block so fooled around
4) Diels 109  sluggish
5) sig tiger  Got two flights in turns with drag tab.  Wing damaged and is being repaired,
6)  Comet 1/2 size P37  Flies on a rail  entertained boys whom I allowed to fly it
7) Swoose twice around the gym on 400 turns  entertained the boys,  Best flier in years for me.

I found out the field in the video is the same size so we will keep looking, in the meantime I might explore using the Pinkham Field Rulebook for our flying sessions. The more I look this over , the smarter it looks to me. Anybody here got any experience with those rules?

I went flying yesterday (Saturday) at Clayton Green and a lot more turned up.  Fortunately one of us had a camera with him and took this great photograph. There are many good modellers there but I will just point out, third from the right with a light coloured shirt is John O'Donnell who must have won more competitions in more Free Flight classes than anyone else.  I am the one in the wheelchair holding an aeroplane.  She is the 'Penthouse Lady' getting the wind up her skirts for the first time.

To chime in on Glidermaster's post, I got a chance to get away from the CD table and fly in the scramble. I used my Trusty Tangent Time Target Dakota and my Jr. HS buddy, Tom Faith to shag it. Malcolm Campbell kept standing in front of my launch, so I figured I'd aim it at him! This is one of his shots. This might become a regular feature of the Ike, especially if we can get Tahn to continue running it. It was a lot of fun (but then, I wasn't doing the running!)

John- hope you had a good time in spite of the mud. Bruce- we missed you!

Is it a rule at Clayton Green that you must have white hair or no hair in order to attend?Huh?
That is some impressive turnout.

Ron, I hope you're not suggesting that that spendid photoraph shows anything other than a fine line up of men in their absolute prime of virility and youth?
(Although to be fair, some of the really Adonis-like Claytonians such as myself, weren't there that day.)

Yes - it flies, no dramas. Needs more power. I still think electric is the way to go, with RC a good idea to get more flying time in. Not for me though!
I have to say the Luffenham grass is the best

Nice day today.  Warm, nearly cloudless and only a light breeze coming from all points on the compass.  Fairly crowded airpatch...

I elected to fly only catagliders for times in the Tiny Glider Postal and whatever other Postal is active, getting in some fairly decent times in the 8" catagory ("Let it Roll" and the "Krazy Katze W").  I also flew my old dinosaur, the 16inch "Whatsis" that was built back in 1985, going thru many mods and three fuselages.

Only got four flights before HUNG decided he'd (she?) had seen enough of this decrepit and overweight trespasser, and confiscated her.  OOS at 322 seconds!  The shortest flight was 78 seconds being the first flight out of the box after a two year nap.

I know where it came down, but it is in an inaccessible area - swamp surrounded by trees, belonging to the local fishing club.  I've "lost" models in that area before and had them returned, so maybe I'll be lucky again...

It was a really spectacular flight Smiley Sad

No big deal, John Grin.  It was LONG overdue for replacement so now I have the incentive to finally build a modified-for-CLG "Jupiter Moon".
