I tried these Feather blades recently and I love em.
They are expensive and quite thick but they are super sharp and snap very cleanly.
I've got the cheap Treet ones for when I need a very thin blade, but they band before they snap.

Anyone else got any recommendations.

Star or Silver Star or Blue Star all are nice blades.
Find them on eBay. Sometimes you can find real deals there.

I use the Treat blades with the brown and orange rather than those with the red and yellow. They have a darker colour, pressumably a higher carbon content and are more brittle.

Homebase are (or were) knocking out packs of 50 single edge blades for 3 or 4 quid a box. I bought a couple of boxes about the turn of the year.  They seem OK to me, but I'm not an afficionado.

I have some feather scalpel blades.  They were expensive $36 per hundred but I have a lifetime supply!  Pit said he had a source for Sologen (sp) double edge blades.  They are slightly thicker and work perfectly in a razor plane.  I have about 8 left which will last me for life but if you want the best blades there are for a razor plane contact him to see what he has available.

Solingen in Germany, Coventry in England, and someplace in Spain (possibly Seville) have been makers of quality steel cutting gear for centuries.

I still have a good supply of Solingen "Super Blondi" 0.08mm D/E stainless blades (possibly 20-30 5-packs).  They're darn sharp and snap without bending.  Pretty sure they're still available from Martor, but under a different desig.

Very interested in the razor blades. They look like they are single edge and are thicker than normal blades.
Can you tell me where you got them, would like to try some.
Thanks

Feather is a Japanese company and the blades are still made and sold in Japan.
The single edge blades are thick, 0.245mm, and carbon steel. About $3 per box (10 blades).
I have been using the blades for my balsa plane for 45 years.
