Does anyone have any data or specification on Hard B class?? I see it listed in the BMFA classes and I am stumped when it comes to finding out what it's all about..?
How do you make EZB any harder?
Best regards Si

You could make it harder by imposing a maximum weight of say 220mgs.

I don't know what "Hard B" means in the UK. Over here it's an expression that's used in place of EZB b/c EZB is definitely not "EZ".

It's not terribly hard to build a 20 minute model following Larry Coslick's Hobby Shopper article. That would be competitive at most contests in the US these days considering how few people fly the event.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm aware of EZB and the mass limited F1L, it was this strange 'hard B' that I'd never heard of If sub 0.03g planes are considered EASY B, I an not sure what a HARD B would B! Si

I think you meant 0.3 grams, didn't you? That's half as heavy as my lightest EZB was. Thanks for the feedback. I'm aware of EZB and the mass limited F1L, it was this strange 'hard B' that I'd never heard of If sub 0.03g planes are considered EASY B, I an not sure what a HARD B would B! Si

Does anyone have any data or specification on Hard B class?? I see it listed in the BMFA classes and I am stumped when it comes to finding out what it's all about..? Where is it listed? It is not present in the 2018 FF Rulebook which can be downloaded from the BMFA website. It is present in my old copy of the 2008 FF Rulebook but since then several classes have been removed...another example is Intermediate Stick. There was talk of rationalising the classes in the rulebook when I was on the Indoor Tech Comm about 8 years ago. I suggest that you forget about it and concentrate on more important and current classes.

Morning Nick It's in the records list, one of four 'EZB' type classes listed. I can't say I was losing any sleep over it, it just peaked my interest. I wondered if someone had thought up a way to make an already challenging class 'hard'.
07a EASY B INDOOR RUBBER POWERED DURATION (Ceiling up to 8m) 91a F1L FAI EZB RUBBER POWERED DURATION (Ceiling up to 8m) 170a HARD B RUBBER POWERED DURATION (Ceiling up to 8m) 174a USA EASY B RUBBER POWERED DURATION (Ceiling up to 8m)

Flying light EZB's that are 0.4 g or less sharpens your model trimming skills ( ), making you especially aware of all the warps, bends, and twists that happen to a model at launch.

Dale Frost and I were talking about this at the Nats as we were flying models in 400mg or less range. We were discussing how changes were needed to adjust to the site variations in temp and humidity as the day progressed.
