Many years ago in either Radio Control Modeler or the AMA magazine Don Berliner published an article about McDonnell's Doodlebug. If I remember correctly it was a one off design for a contest for a STOL design, sometime in the late 1920's.  I couldn't tell you why, but for some reason I told myself that one day I wanted to make a model of it.  Don's article was probably around 30+ years ago, and I still get an itch to build it every once in a while. The design features of 20" of travel in the main gear, full length leading edge slats, and flaps was interesting.

So I think it might be time to stop thinking and start doing. Which means research. I have a three view I found on Aerofred, and a couple other pictures, but that's it. I'll begin the search again but thought I should ask here in case anyone has come across this rare bird.

Dan

Don't know the drawing you have but if you can find a copy of of either of the following this might help you

McDonnell Doodlebug   by T. Stark    - 3-view, data & photos in the Feb-73 issue of Air Classics starting on page 52 or
McDonnell Doodlebug   by T. Stark    - 3-view, data & photos in the 1980 Spring Edition of Air Classics Quarterly Review   starting on page 20

The article is the same in both issues.

Searched the AMA Model Aviation database.  No joy.  Probably in Air Classics.  Don Berliner's articles were always very well researched.
