What great photos!  I love what you are doing with the cubs making them ready to take on life through model aviation.  My new hip is doing fine and I have been cleared to go to a cane instead of the walker and can now drive short trips.  I was getting real tired of being restricted to the house.  I was visited by my friend from Illinois that I started flying with back in the late 1950's.  He is big into 1/4 the scale RC and may have an old radio for the JV-44.  I hope he remembers the promise when he gets home and I can ship you something.  Keep up the good work with the Cubs.

It's not about money...

Since I started school JV44 many people have asked me, why I continue to use my time with the boys if that activity did not produce money.

My answer is this; This is Italo Stokes, another one of my students, he started very early, and now he just wrote me an email, he finished his career and he received an aircraft maintenance mechanic !!!. This is only the first stage, now many good things come, many more !!!
My answer is Italo, and Damian, and Daniel and all the other guys who are studying aeronautical careers, when they form their own families and can do it, they will use their free time to build models and inspire younger ones. Is my answer.
It is a great honor for me to communicate to everyone in this forum that Italo Stokes has just received an aircraft maintenance mechanic !!! and promised to visit us as soon as he can !!!.
I send them all my thanks for the constant support that the JV44 school, for all the material they have given us, so many books we have received, so many words of courage to support, all!
Your support has served to see these young people develop in aeronautical careers, and to always get the best out of them.
Thank you for sharing so many good moments.
We hope that in the month of March we restart the activities with new students !!!

As I have said many times before "you are changing some young lives my friend".  Even the ones that did not go on to aviation careers they have gone on to productive lives and some of them may not have!  I am especially proud of you getting the shop completed.  The fact that your government's recognized your efforts and rewarded you with some moneys is especially satisfying.  We helped you but the main moneys came from you recognition by your government!  I knew that when you did so well in the contest in Argentina a second and third as I recall may have had a big part in that.  The supplies that we have sent you had permitted you to have the "cubs" build those models and the ones that came before.  Good on you for all that you have done for the young people there.

What you have done for these young kids can't be explained with words and is due to the time an effort that you and your wife have spent teaching and guiding them.

The world desperately needs more people like you both.

Cheers

Hi all!!!!
the 2017 season for the JV44 School is open!!!!

this year, FF models -as always- is the top of our list, but we introduce this season control line and rc 2channels gliders too !!!
in the set of picts uploaded here, we show our adventures in the flying field with rc 2ch gliders (gentle lady) and the new "pack": some parents and invitd modellers are coming to the school classroon to use them, and seems like is a new club born!!!composed by the "plder" modellers.
youngers and olders are sharing the same activity, the rc masters from here are right now teaching us to plot rc models!!! and  -hope- soon the control line team is in flight this season.
consulting Mr. FAIF2D (Steve Fauble), we need to change the engine show in the picture, for the Cox .15. this engine is already clean and ready to go to the model nose!!!

Marcelo, a .15 of any kind will be just fine.  I see the Fox is on the Guillows trainer and that will be a very good fit for that plane.  The Cox that is on the p39 looks like a medallion .049 and will not be big enough.  I have never sent you a Cox .15 so unless you got one from someone else I do not know where it came from.  one of the first ones that I sent was a .15 and would go on that plane rather nicely.  I can not remember the name (MVVS) but it had a round exhaust and we discussed if the exhaust was pointed to the rear or the side and it was pointed to the side.  I see that the Fox has a yellow nylon prop on it.  Remember that all of the plastic props need to be boiled for 6 hours or so as they are old enough to have dried out and will not be safe until they are boiled!!!

Especially the 1/2A engines need nitro.  I can remembering purchasing some fai fuel (methanol and castor oil only) and had problems with starting of my motors years ago.  You only need 5% nitro but it will make your starting easier.  I do not know where you will be able to purchase that in your country as I think that at least 15 years ago the only place it was made was the USA and as a combustible it is almost impossible to ship it.  The 1/2A motors would be much happier with 15% nitro but remember that they and the others need a minimum of 20% oil.

I am amazed with the success that you have with very young "cubs".  Although as I remember I was about 8 or 9 when I started.  I do wish I had someone like you as a mentor, it would have made my trip so much easier!  I still have a kit of a RC glider that I need to ship to you I just have not gotten it ready.  Soon though.
