Very glad to see that Mr. Belli is back to good health and working on the model.  As I understand it that is the model of the aircraft that he trained on and that is why it means so much to him.  I was very glad to be able to get it for him to relive his youth.  I liked the nice letter that you photographed from him to me, it meant a lot!  How is the glider kit coming?

I had a chance to go to Scaled Composites back in 1990 or so. I got to see the Pond racer up close and personal.  It was very small!!! Think about 1/4 the size of a piper Cub.  The V6 motors were cowled as tightly as if the cowl was a coat of paint.  They relied on a rich mixture of methanol to cool the motors.  Methanol's power does not drop off much when rich.  It was a really neat design study but they needed to have a crew chief from an alcohol dragster to teach them about very highly boosted alcohol motors.  By all accounts the plane flew fine but every flight was a constant motor emergency.  On the same trip I got to meet the crew chief for the Voyager around the world aircraft and shake his hand.  I told him I wanted to meet the man that spent 3 years of his life on a project because it was interesting.  That was his one word answer on a video tape that I had when asked why he was involved in the Voyager. I still wear one of the Voyager belt buckles.

Is that the Gee Bee that I see hanging on the wall?  Have you test glided it yet? That was a very nice kit but I knew that I could not do it justice if I built it.  Santiago looks like he is doing a very nice job on the glider.  He does very nice builds!

That looks really nice.  Very good framework.  I am glad that it went to someone who could do justice to the quality of the kit.  I really like all the happy faces that I see in the model room! I have a box with magazines and a book that I hope to send in a day or so.  I will let you know the customs number when I get it into the post office.

I am so glad that I could help "a vintage" modeler relive his youth.  When you get old you tend to want to relive some of your youth because you remember those times with fondness.  You do tend to forget the bad times so the good times stand out very sharply.  I was amazed to see that he was not wearing glasses.  Mr Belli must be like my wife, when she wants to see something close she takes off her glasses to use her "microscopic vision".
