Hi Guys,

Got Butch Hadland's plan for this one, and there's a great website for photos, but does anyone know of a source for a decent 3-view of the Fury?

I've been seeking this for ages to no avail.

All the best

I'Ve got the peanut hand drawn plan that I got about a year or so ago - don't remember if it's the Hadland plan. I searched the net quite a while, also with little luck. Most of what I'd found were small, dark (underexposed) pics of a black(?) aircraft on a dark background. The plane apparently never made it to a race due to various reasons (money being a big one) and by the time everything came together, it was obsolete.

Which website did you find with pics (of the model?)?

Pete,

This is the website:

http://www.huntingtoncounty.com/hosler.htm

I believe the aircraft was dark red in colour with white and black lettering.

Actually, the plan i have is a pistachio by Butch Hadland, quite crudely hand drawn.

Cheers

You started this topic years ago Graham, but I found it today!

Did you ever find the 3-view that you wanted?

I have got the MIAMA magazine 'The Hanger Pilot' Issue 125, that Butch Hadland's Holser plan originally appeared in, roughly drawn by Doc Martin.   I have got the three references on the plan too, but the Mendenhall 3-view is only a side view.   The plan does have helpful note 'For the Judges', stating "This plan is your documentation.   The framework is drawn over an exact 8" enlargement of the 3-view".

Butch was at Cardington with Doc Martin, over a number of weekends in 1987.   They were chatting about the Hosler Fury and I mentioned having the Sixty-two Rare Racing Airplanes by Truman C Weaver, Published by Arenar Publications, Bronx, New York 10461.   I lent them the book and a photostat of the relevant part was made.

Back in the US, Doc approached the publisher to buy a copy but, I gather, they denied all knowledge of it....even when a copy of the cover was supplied.   On page 1, there is a note saying Copyright applied for, so perhaps that was unsuccessful.   My copy was bought new from Foyles for £3.50!

I cannot quite remember, but I think I have seen another 3-view in the Flying Aces magazine archive too.

Hi Chris,

No i never did. I have the Mendenhall side view and the Volare three view, but both differ from the few photos i have: if you have anything else i’d love to see it!

Cheers

I am

working on an update for my Hosler Fury - based on several photos available.  No estimated date.

I have not seen a 3-vew that was accurate when compared to the photos (not mine, not Hadland's).
