Magician 15
Description: A Japanese "Thunder Tiger" kit based on Jim Silhavy's Magician profile stunter.
The original Japanese kit was made from a very hard wood, even though it was fairly light. The wood was not balsa, but balsa could probably be used throughout, particularly if very hard grades were chosen.
Keywords: Thunder Tiger, Magician, Jim Silhavy, 2.5cc, profile stunt

Wingspan in inches

Do you know what the actual wingspan is in inches. I printed the wing using the poster format, but it only came to 720mm. I think the plans say it's 860mm. Any clarification would be appreciated.

About 33.85 inches

It was a long time ago that I built this one, but 860mm is right.

Dont get trapped by the the "missing" bit of the wing, the plans are drawn with about 4 rib bays missing from the outboard wing (you should draw out the full length wing with rib spacings and build on that)

Also be careful as the outboard wing is shorter with closer rib spacing.

Radio Controlled Magician

I built a R/C version of this model in the 1980's. symmetrical wings, powered by a "Thunder Tiger .15" C/L motor. Two (2) channel Futaba R/C on 27 Mhz. converted the flaps into ailerons and elevator controls only (No throttle) Went like a "Scolded Cat", very hard to control with it's short coupled "Tail moments"
