Ron Wittman's 1961 Nationals winning HLG
Description: I found this Ron Wittman hand launch glider in the February 1962 issue of American Modeler magazine. Ron flew this same basic glider indoors and outdoors, winning the 1961 Nationals with it. Ron Wittman and Lee Hines competed against each other back in the day and this glider has Lee Hines’ revolutionary Sweepette glider written all over it.

I think this design would make a good outdoor catapult glider by adding a launch hook to the fuselage just forward of the wing leading edge and adding a plywood launch tab to the fuselage just forward of the stabilizer. It would also be a good idea to add some sort of a dethermalizing device to the glider.
