It's great to see the Forum Active again. Thanks Bruce.
I've have not been contributing much lately, but have been a constant lurker.
The past year has been difficult for Canadian fliers due to Transport Canada and MAAC draconian regulations. However there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Well, having some success with my E 36 Blizzard design, I thought that scaled down it would make a nice E 20 model,
 The E 36 is at https://hummingbirdmodelproducts.com/e36-electric-ff-power-models
So here are the bones of the Blizzard E 20.
Fuselage is triangular with carbon thread reinforcement on the edges.  Weight  uncovered is 3.51 gm.  Tailplane uncovered is 1.40 gm.
The photo shows parts laid out for the wing.
Wing airfoil is 7% thick with flat top profile from 33% back. Wing has geodetic ribs behind spar.  wing area is 70 sq.in. and tail area 29%.
I have not settled on a timer and motor yet.

Very Nice John!

I'm working on a geodetic wing myself, also at 7% thick. Thin is good!

There are alternatives to a fully geodetic construction. You can use square sticks at a 45 to 60 degree angle in place of ribs, or you can add X-bracing.

Well, I put the wing parts in a zip-lock bag, added a squirt of cyano, a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lime and gave it a shake and what comes out only a finished wing.
Total airframe weight uncovered is surprisingly light at 9.8 gm.  Maybe a little reinforcement of the spar would be a good addition.
PB guy, I like your square riblets - diagonal bracing never hurts.

I also scaled my Puzzle E-36 design to E-20 size. Works well, except that while increasing the motor power, the model started to develop "Dutch roll" on climb. I added some area to the rudder, and now the model flies nicely again.

"Winter warmer"!  Grin  It's -20C here in Finland now, and moderate winds. Too cold to go to fly!

If weather is the issue maybe there is an opportunity for E10 indoor free flight then?

That looks very nice John, keep up the good work. I fear that our models will reduce in size as the years go by ;-) .

Yesterday it was -25C, but flat calm. Decent flying conditions as long as you kept your hands in the mittens most of the time!

BMK motor, timer batteries and props arrived within 4 days from the UK. First class service.  Blizzard E20 now ready for flight.
CG right on 80%. 3D printed motor mount.
Just hit 28 gm with an extra rubber band.
Waiting on some decent weather now

Model looks great by the way..

An update on the Blizzard E 20.
Full size plans and article are due for publication in Aeromodeller July or August issue.
The 3D motor mount is my design and I will be putting it on Thingiverse.
I just received the 75th Anniversary decal for MAAC and could not resist a shot of it on the Blizzard (just placed on it-not permanent)
Other shot is the E 20 with my E 36 Blizzard and my 25" Cox 0.010 TD Pocket Rocket.

Hi All,

The E20 Resources page of the Peterborough Model Flying Club website is now up - including the AeroModeller Idiom E20 plan and parts sheets (you should still buy the magazine though! Smiley )
