Title: My two latest electric rc planes
Post by: Pat Daily on January 23, 2015, 10:47:09 AM
Just finished these two planes.  A GWS Pico Moth on Floats and a GWS Tiger Moth 400 (the larger moth).  Both fly very well and are really enjoyable.

Very Nice Pat.
What are you using for covering material?
Thanks,
Dave

I saw you post pictures of those over at RCGroups, how does the 400 fly as compared to the Pico moth?

I have the pico moth with all the goodies collected through the tiger moth threads at RCG over the years, the plastic wing tank and decals that (I think his name was lancer?) made, plus a kitty cowl, the laser cut struts, the lensrc cd rom motor (I think I got the last one he ever made) I've always saved that kit thinking someday I'm going to build it. it's like my prized possession!

The Pico Moth is only 3 channels (no ailerons) and flies nicely and slowly.  The Tiger Moth 400 has ailerons and is mildly aerobatic--it can do a slow roll and fly inverted.  Both are very light wing loading-- around 5 ounces/square foot for the Pico, about 6.5-7.0 ounces/square foot for the 400.  Both planes fly slowly as compared to a lot of ARFs.  Very enjoyable cruising.

I assume these are old stock you had around the house. Is GWS still a viable firm?

All the best,
Konrad
