Title: Anybody know a source for 1-80 steel (or other material) bolts?
Post by: Little-Acorn on February 11, 2018, 08:34:05 PM
Yes, they are really teeny. I have a lot of the more common 2-56 and 3-48 etc. small bolts, and have just a few of the 1-80's. But I have a definite use for them, any length short or long. I don't know where the few I have, came from, they've been in my junk box probably for years.

I've been looking thru eBay, Amazon.com, Tower Hobbies etc. To my surprise, they don't even mention them, though they mention 2-56 and larger ones. Have they become unobtanium?

BTW, does anyone know how small nylon bolts are made? They probably don't come in 1-80, but how small (diameter) DO they get?

Thanx all!

Wow, those are some teeeeenie screws. I never even heard of 0-80 and 0-90. But that's the kind of thing I'm looking for. Thank you, Ram!

And nylon 1-72s and 2-56s, the mind boggles.

I've found some 4-40 nylon bolts at Marshall's Industrial Hardware here in Sandy Eggo, a sort-of-specialty store. But yours is a treasure trove.

No such thing. #1 screws (.073D) are 72 threads/inch, #0 (.060D) are 80 TPI. Microfasteners have them both.

If you're in a hurry, you might try McMaster-Carr. Note that they have nylon screws down to 0-80, and metal ones all the way down to 0000! Previously, I'd only heard of 000, which Ray Harlan uses. I seem to recall he told me that if he dropped one, he wouldn't bother trying to find it.

I bought both nylon and stainless 0-80 screws (and nuts and a tap) from Amazon last year:

and

I use them for adjustable stabs etc on my outdoor FF models.
