Title: wow..no replies...tuff crowd.
Post by: CAPTAINKTTYHWK on October 22, 2011, 10:50:20 AM
Still sniffing this place out I guess....anyone in here?
Working a Wildcat (again...finally), about 50 inches.
Flew the Hellcat again...
The Hellcat flight was again another chance to say..."what a tuff airplane".
After taking off outta the ruff, a few laps... then over-lean.
Instead of smoking the engine, I did 3 or 4 inside loops in a row
and took my chances with the flameout location.
Being a heavier plane and only 39 inches, sometimes it helps to not be upside down when the fan stops.
And this time I thought I was high enough for an inside pull-out. Thought.
A nice explosion of dirt from it's chin and main wheels. Then the huuuge bounce and back on its feet, unbroken, oil streaks on the outboard wing covered with dirt, prop intact...
I cleaned it, inspected it (yes, thoroughly), I fueled it and after richening the needle valve, it flew, awsomely. Again..."what a tuff airplane".

What kind of an unbreakable Hellcat are you flying anyway  :o  ;D
Can you get pictures of it?

And what's that Wildcat you are working on?

... this seems to be a pretty quiet section of the HPA forums. And I guess people on many forums are more into discussing technical issues or build projects. Doesn't really have to be that way.

old sterlling kit (1990?). built in my lap, not intended for this long life. Kinda like the real thing.
Scratchin a 50 inch profile Wildcat for fun.
Just wondering how many were in here.
