Nice looking fuselage, a barrel of fun Wink
Gee Bee is one of my all-time favourites, bought years ago the Delmar Benjamin book for possible future scale documentation.

Weight saving at front might not be needed?

Hello everyone, after being absent from the internet for some time, we are back in touch with this forum.
We have resumed work on the Gee Bee, so far the longest work I've done, so I can finish it, I do not think it's ready for this year's end but it will be the first one I'll finish for 2017.
It still has to finish the wings, the wing fillets in the fuselage and perform all the general assembly of the model.
I was working in parts like the image of the radial motor that goes in the front, for this part I use nail polish (stolen from my daughters, as they have a very good color metal glaze !!!) we also simulate the color copper tubes etc. .
Here I leave the images of the work done.

this model is perfectly for electrics, not for rubber powered, because is to much wood in it.anyway, i continue and try to finished it for next months.

You are doing a wonderful job!  I opened the kit box probably 3 or 4 times and just decided that I could not do it justice and closed it back up.  You are giving the kit the life it deserves.

Hi Steve!! wow! this is a real very difficult model tobuild!!i know is a "Heavy one", but i try to fly it, iam happy with just one turn arround the field !!! je je

well the half wing fit perfect!!! iam working now in the second halve.
the way to build the wing is very close to the Press brunning method of build (build in the air), first put all ribs into two cntral spars -not glued yet- and put all  over 3 1/8 sq strips.
centering all and cement.
add lower portion of leading edge, front spar and upper portion of LE in this order.
 trailing edge and 1/16 spars.

je je now i can see a Gee Bee now Wink

hi Don!
ian not know how much weight yet, still need to much sanding and hollow out many parts, just iam try to finishing all parts first.
i think this "heavy one" is aprox. to 100gr. -hope-
i know is too much! iam thinking in a electric power conversion or cox 0.49 engine, -free flight- the cox is available at now, iam watching free fliyers --power- in youtube to learn more about this opcion

set of bones pictures at now

Marcelo,
Maurice Taudevin (Brisbane Boys) built a large R-1 back in 2010 - video is, unfortunately, a bit out of focus, and I don't remember whether it is the DuBois or the Herr model.  The vieo is of the maiden flight and shows that the model DOES fly quite well.

I just noticed that you are planking the fillet. That seems like a good way to handle the curves.
