Top 10 reasons for HLG and CLG flyers to go to the Isaacson Classic 2013:

1.   Your gliders are lonely and possibly suffering from depression often associated with park flying  Sad
2.   Look at yourself in the  Embarrassed – clearly a dose of clean, fresh country air will do you good
3.   Thermals are guaranteed at Lost Hills  Grin
4.   Your spouse will enjoy a weekend without you  Lips sealed
5.   Good chance to test top speed of your car (I made it from San Diego in 3.75 hours last year.)  Smiley
6.   How many places can you fly without people wondering ‘who is that grown man playing with toy planes in the park’
7.   If you never break your gliders, you might never build new ones  Cheesy
8.   You can set your kids loose out there, something all city kids need
9.   Free lessons from Stan (Friday)
10.   Dirt bikes!  No explanation needed  Grin

Whether or not you can make it this year, Reply to this post with ‘your’ reasons for going.  There’s got to be some better ones lurking out there  Huh

In case you hadn’t heard, this year there will be a full CLG and HLG event on both Saturday and Sunday, both flown under AMA rules.  No FAI catapult  (unlimited rubber) this year.   If you’re going to make the trip all the way out there, this gives you twice as much opportunity to fly your gliders, twice as many chances to max out, twice as much exercise, twice as many chances to beat your friends, twice as much fun!  To be clear:  Saturday – full CLG and HLG event.   Same thing again on Sunday.   Stan will have some loaner gliders for practice or competing, so even if you don't have a glider ready to go, you can still enjoy this great event.

PLove,
Thank you for the opportunity to state reasons for attending this much anticipated event.

1. My gliders(and a few spiders)have been acting like Mexican Jumping Beans, trying to escape their
boxes(cages?), whilst the days dwindle down to a precious few(43 to be exact, but who is counting?). Wink
2. I can turn down my hot water heaters to 'pilot' & shut off furnace for 10 days.  Grin
3. Stan & RR will be in control of Glider Pen to ease us thru the fun of flying with less disturbances.  Cool
4. Smiling faces of the many glider guiders from all over the globe! Cheesy
4. I get to chase around from FAI flight line to Glider Pen and ride my chase bike, too!  Tongue
5. Good chance to wave at the LA homeless and avoid East LA driveby barrio areas. Roll Eyes

And my reason for not being able to attend: wife's cousins wedding. Great for the cousin, bad for my attendance to the IKE Sad I'm bummed I can't attend. The IKE is a great contest!

Sorry Derek, "wife's cousins wedding" does not cut it as valid excuse
to skip the IKE, unless MAYBE IF you are minister of the ceremony! :-)
Heck, I know of marriages & anniversaries that were celebrated during
FF contests. Ask Jim Parker sometime.
Soooo, plans can be revised, eh?
Be there or be square, Derek! FF needs guys like you on site!

Lee, maybe she will have the wedding at Lost Hills  if I offer to officiate Grin The current plan is to be at Lost Hills for the Max Men. I would rather be at the IKE. Lots more events to fly in. The Max Men weekend is the only one available for a CA trip till summer.

Back on topic: a big reason to attend the IKE is the cool contest directors! Norm and Roger do a great job!

The Ike Is Coming Soon! Feb. 9-11. The complete flier is/will be posted in the Events section

Thanks for talking this up!
Gotta say the most fun is happening in the glider pen! Like Paul says, we doubled your chances of winning CLG and HLG. Ralph and Stan are ready, they even have their own score recording station so you don't have to go back to the CD table.

The only downer is Norm doesn't get a chance to fly!
