I was lucky enough to fly with the Minneapolis Model Aero Club (MMAC) from 1975 until about 1983,  was a junior for most of those years.  As a kid who enjoyed model planes I couldn't have asked for a more diverse, talented and competitive group of guys to hang out with.  It was a fantastic environment for a young modeler to learn all aspects of building and flying both outdoor and indoor FF.  I remember being so excited the night before our monthly contests that I couldn't sleep and on meeting nights I couldn't keep my mind on anything while in class during the day.  When I got old enough (18) the guys took me to their bar for some brews after the meeting.  That's when I learned where the real club business took place!

Many of my best modeling memories are from the time I spent with those guys.  Every one of them took me under their wing and helped me learn what it was to be a modeler and a decent person.  I really miss them.

One of those guys was my flyin buddy Gary Crawford.  Seems Gary needed a new P-30 real quick so he went through his pile of broken planes and found the wing and tail from a Potent P-30 and the fuselage of a One Night 28 and grafted the pieces together the day before the contest and Viola!

And now I present to you, from the May-June 1982 issue of the MMAC newsletter,  Gary Crawford's (ahem) Potent Night P-30.  You can't make this stuff up folks.
