Hi Y'all,

Over at S&T they got a Comet Dimer Cookup still going and thought I'd build this old kit I was given by Tymekiller a while back.  Just found it in the boxes after two moves this past year.  So here's some pictures of the progress so far.

Got the fuselage and empennage done and sanded. Did the wing this morning but not sanded but couldn't wait to mockup the components.

Looks good! An appealing subject, and the proportions seem pretty good for flying, at least to me. I have a Diehls kit for that airplane which maybe I'll build this millenium sometime.

Thanks Lincoln...it does look pretty good so far.  I did add an additional 1/16 sq spar on the bottom of the wing opposite the top spar.

A bit more progress on the Dauntless.  Doing a tween the wars scheme.

A little more accomplished today after being away for a few days with family.

Some panel lines added and some markings.  The printer color cartridge gave out so we'll have to wait for the national markings to be done.  The tween the wars roundels with stars and red dots.  Should set the yellow wings off nicely.

Here's a few pictures...

Thanks fellas...

I've enjoyed this build a lot.  Just something about the tween the wars color schemes!

OK, I've collected dimers for sometime. I do not remember a Comet Dauntless dimer.. What are the details?
BTW, your finished model looks great. I really like pre-war.

I guess I  miss spoke because it's a 20 in model on the kit box.... I guess Dime Scale is 16 inch span.  Thanks for the kind words.  I'm a bit partial to the pre-war scheme on this one!

Yes Tom, I know this one well. I have it on my list to scale up and build for Combat.
I'm working on a scaled up Comet Wildcat now. I'd love to put it in prewar color but that would disqualify it.

I usually try to find an unusual scheme when I build a model.  There are some nice naval camo schemes for this aircraft also.

Got the panel lines and 270 tiny circles to mark off the dive brakes for the top and bottom of the wing.  I've still got to complete the canopy, prop shaft, and the roundels with stars and meatballs.

I've reconsidered the roundels and may use tissue to cut out the roundels, stars & meatballs.

Here's the progress so far...

Finished the roundels today from tissue and white bond paper for the stars.  White tissue is too transparent.  I know I could have painted tissue but got lazy.  Here's the pictures.  Roundels really set off the scheme!

Finished up the Dauntless today.  Got the framing on the canopy and made a bomb and sling with foam and wire.  I'm calling this build done.

Here's the final pictures!
