Hey, Dan:

She is looking great, and you are definitely correct about the cowl blisters.  They sure do make the appearance of the plane.

Can you expand a bit on how you made the "Mister Mulligan" decal?

Thanks,
KP

Kit decal! I've replaced a few bits of wood here and there, but the lure of being able to use the kit decals was too much... The carrier film is almost invisible over the gloss finish.

Cheers,

Dan

At last, a little more progress! Wing is now together. The wing and lower fuselage have to covered and assembled, before the upper stringers can be added and the upper covering added.

Cheers,

Dan.

After being sidetracked by the Whimsey bipe, I'm now back on Mr.M with a vengeance! The last couple of days have seen the fus. covered and doped and I've just water shrunk the second wing panel. The top of the fus. is uncovered as the wing has to be mounted before the final few top stringers are added. Looking at these pics, I'm glad I decided on a fully painted finish. White tissue looks so anaemic...!

Cheers,

Dan.

SAMS Superlite. Esaki would have been my first choice, but I'd run out of white!

A bit more progress to report... Next to do is mount the wing, finish the top of the fus, add the u/c leg fairings and the side windows and windscreen, then it's spraying time! I'm holding off a dummy engine until I see what the CG is like. The SIG Monoucoupe I built ended up horrifically nose heavy, despite my best efforts, so we shall see...

Cheers,

Dan.

Getting somewhere! Wing built in and top of fuselage finished and covered. Glazing on and started covering the tail.

Cheers,

Dan.

Back to this again!

First bit of spraying done in a gap between the endless rain of late. Bit of tidying up to be done, then it's just decals, panel lines and struts!

Cheers,

Dan.

Nice to see MR. M. back again Dan. Nice spray job; what do you use for masking and which paint?

Cheers all! Standard masking tape, owing to the small areas to be masked, and Tamiya Acrylic.

Cheers,

Dan.

That's a beauty, Dan. Did you weigh before and after paint perchance?

Sorry Bill, I didn't! I had some nice electronic scales but they went at the same time as my wife and I haven't replaced them yet.

Congrats on your stunning model, Dan. Believe yours is far and away the most craftsmanlike freeflight MM I've seen to date. May it fly every bit as good as it looks  Smiley .

This thread started as a cook-up of sorts early on with other modellers inspired by your example. Therefore, as a tribute to all who participated, this limerick was born:

There once was a plane of great fame
Mister Mulligan was its fine name
               tho many Mulls built
               by modellers most skilt
No two builds appeared quite the same!

Flying pix later? At any rate, a stellar job.
