I think you're right there Bruce, and you touched on an area of contention with VTO/ROG back when it was required for FAI.
Years ago my Dad told me that Dave Posner (he designed Dreamweaver & Mini-Weaver) was DQ'd in a trials from a certain team place for 'pushing' on a VTO.
That's certainly not what we want in Vintage FAI!
