Most of the Jodel covering is now done. I've just finished the CO2 conversion. This was just facing the existing F1 with ply, bolting the motor on and then carving a nose block to fit over. The tank was fixed slightly forward of the design CG and the filler valve routed out just in front of the wing. I would post some pics, but this is a new laptop and I have nearly gone insane trying to remember passwords for everything and can't face trying to get into saving and resizing pics yet!

Cheers,

Dan.

Two more bits of tissue to go! It's actually a nice pale green, but it looks a bit insipid with the flash. The u/c is not really that stilty; they are still overlong before the axles are bent. That means getting away with smaller holes in my board when it comes to pinning everything flat whilst shrinking/doping!

Cheers,

Dan.

All now doped and flying surfaces pinned flat whilst drying. I managed to trim and glue the HUGE canopy on successfully without trimming too much off, which is my usual trick with moulded canopies. Pondering the colour trim now...

Looking good Dan!

Yes it's a whacking huge canopy for a 'plane that size!  It took me a good old time to make the master pattern for it, had to start with a tree Cheesy

I was always worried about it re the weight, but VMC seem to be able to make the mouldings nice and thin to keep the weight pretty low....

Yes, it's a vast expanse of greenhouse, alright! I couldn't resist the first bit of spraying before calling it a day. There will be a light copper coloured trim stripe just below the black, eventually.

Cheers,

Dan.

I'm working nights this week, so a last burst of effort and Tamiya Acrylic saw the Jodel finished today. Once again; lovely kit that builds into a really cute little model!

I've even managed the first chucks onto the bed, which looked good. CG about right and no violent tendencies... Roll on some nice weather!

Cheers,

Dan.

Dan I really like that.  Cute colour scheme too.  I inherited a bunch of Gasparins in different sizes from my Dad but haven't used them - you may have convinced me to put one in a little Tiger...

Happy man! Just had the Tiggie out for her maiden trimming session on a lovely calm evening. Looking like a bit of tailweight (Easily done with some detailing on the tailskid: lead "shoe" and a hefty dummy spring etc.), a little more playing around with thrustlines and she will be sorted. Lovely slow flying speed and looks a picture in the air. If it hadn't started going dark, I would still be there. I did try to video it, but failed dismally...

Cheers,

Dan.

Another calm day. If the little remaining breeze drops, I'll be off down the park with the tiggie and Jodel in a bit!

I took the Jodel out last night. Test glides looked fine; first powered flight looked promising. Second one stalled all over the place. I was about to increase the downthrust when I noticed a 1/2" slug clinging for dear life to the tailskid. By the time I'd prised him off, there were dogs everywhere so I called it a night. Saw enough to know she'll fly.

Cheers,

Dan.

Is your Jodel certified to carry passengers Dan? Grin

Sluggish performance?  Well there you go.  Can't have imperial slugs on a metric aircraft! As an aside he was probably as good as any of my efforts at a pilot

Ah - the woes of an intrepid aviator. First slugs and then plane eating dogs. What next Smiley Good to hear it looks promising and certified to carry imperial slugs.

Enough of slugs!! Brilliant flat calm day at the NCMAC Fun Fly yesterday. The Tiggie was fully trimmed out and is a superb flier. My Moorhouse Scram made many flights approaching 2 minutes and never went more than 30 feet from the point of launch. The Moorhouse Puffin was similar and didn't make a bid for freedom this year. Brilliant day!

Just fab Dan (and Andrew)! Looks real in the air, which is quite an achievement for such a small model.
(The other models look great too!)

Thanks! I was very pleased with the ease of trimming. It was the best flying day I've had for ages...
