Last weeks ,from USA (FAIF2D) arrived at our school, this beautiful mini-Bird of time rc glider2 metters (the original is three meters) designed for sport flight or "thermal competition" , it really is beautiful, The first impression from the kit (note that is a older kit that was stored from about few years, did not have a laser cut in this years) shows us, an excellent "die cut"  that is neither more nor less than precut pieces, But not to the bottom of the sheet, you have to sand the back of the sheet to get to the cut and detach the pieces, which are excellently cut, surprise !!! for a kit of those years, really is well solved, very Few well-calculated and fair pieces of assembly, NOT a "little glider ligther" really is very strong so it will resist the fights of novice pilots like me, start from wing:joined by a 4mm steel wire embedded in a bronze tube, perfect fit , The dihedral is already coming Made on the wire, should be installed each tube in the corresponding locations, only two rods of very resistant pine do the times of central spar, reinforcement all its length by pieces of balsa (hard) to give VERY hard construction and resistant,at the long of the main spar,  all covered 25 % chord with 1 /16 sheet balsa,  - as is usual in this type of ship - despite the great separation of the ribs, this, does not diminish the resisitence to the twists - in general - the outer sections of wings is another business , There are ribs  of medium density, but equally in resistant,

sorry the picts is not in order

I had gotten this kit years ago when I was starting to do RC gliders.  The problem was I wanted them to glide like an A1 or A2 and they did not.  I lost interest after I discovered that and it just sat on a shelf for about 20 years.  I have now gotten it into your hands to increase the Cubs range of models.  Good luck with the build!

I have always liked that style of wing.  I believe it is called wolf and was used on full size gliders in the 1930's. It is just one of those shapes that just looked right to me.  You are doing a very nice job with the construction!!!!!!!!

Sanding the fuselaje!!! this a very simply and strong fuselaje.two side, with poplar and strong balsa sheets, 1/8 bulkheads with ply reinforcements, only i can see a very small space for the servos and the equipment.no servo deck indicated, may be i use double face tape to fix the servos.

Very nice build, Marcelo!  It is one of my favorite designs, and I'm sure that you will enjoy it very much.

What rc frequencies are allowed in Uruguay?  I have Multiplex 3030 in good condition with a few extra receivers that was given to me by a fellow club member.  It is on the 35 MHz band and I really have no use for it.  I could get the 2.4 conversion module, but I do not have the corresponding receivers.

If you can use it, I will see about getting it to you.

Pete

Pit if you do send the radio to Marcelo keep the stated cost below $50 or what your equivelant is.  You also need to say         "educational material NOT FOR SALE NOT FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSE "  Also state on the customs form that it is a gift. Over here You have to send it Priority I do not know what your equivalent would be.  I call all that I have sent him used as well.  And thank you for remembering JV-44 when you got the radio!

I do need to know which frequency band is allowed, tho.  35MHz is what it is set up for now (rf module), and I may be able to obtain a 2,4 module.

My acceptance of the radio was soley with JV44 in mind Smiley!  I'll throw in four (4) mini servos and am waiting for another clubmate to deliver a bunch of 35MHz receivers.

How to convincingly claim a relatively large (14x12x5 inches) and heavy (about 2 kilograms) package to be worth less than $50 could be a problem - this model is still fetching up to 120 on fleabay.  Definitely used and "old".

I also use the words old and used all the time.  I try to say "boys model" and then the word.  Radio might be a tip off perhaps "equipment"?  I have sent boxes that size and bigger and heavier with no problem.  I know that he could use old 72 MHZ stuff but do not know about the 35 MHz.  Marcelo please give Pit a direct answer on if the 35MHz is legal in Uruguay.

Thanks for the info, Marcelo.  As soon as I clear the memory and get the previous owners name re-set from the display, plus a few extra receivers, I'll get it boxed up and sent.  Hopefully it will arrive before Christmas!

I do not know if the UHU you put the yellow on with was a contact adhesive or not.  That does work well apply to the framework and let it dry than apply the film with heat.  Make sure that the film is well attached to the framework!  Just because the plane is RC does not mean that tissue will not work although it must be well doped.  Have you found out about the dope in Montavadao?
