This year's meeting at the airfield "Gheid" fell victim to us COVID-19 had to be cancelled. Instead, we organized a virtual meeting on our website gummimotor.ch. The participants took photos of the models that they would have taken to Olten and Roman then aranged them in the gallery. So we all hope for a meeting in the new year.

Last Saturday (24.7.2021) we had our first Swiss rubber power meeting after the cancellation of the last events due to Covid.
Despite the not very nice weather forecast and the light rain on the journey to the field, we were all looking forward to the event. We hadn't met for quite some time, there was plenty to discuss, discover and chat.
It was also the first meeting in summer. Normally we have our meetings in spring and fall. But this time we had the chance to make it in summer since the big planes are in a mountain flying camp this week. Cool

After all, the weather was not that bad. We had it all... it rained several times during the day, but we also had sunny windows for our flying. As always, I am happy to share some of my pictures with you. I am sure,  my colleagues will chime in and share theirs too:-) I hope you like them and it brings a smile on your face.

Best regards Roman

Here we go...

Roman I think the P-51 is kind of cute it almost looks like a Dick Baxter design. I am ever jealous of your picture taking skills.

No, mine isn't flying yet, because.... you know it... the prop. A new prop is in production. But production is slow at the moment Sad
It's the nice Mustang of rubberfly => https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-z3pGSFgjQ

Yes, brave pilot with a passion for low passes Wink Very detailed model, I would be afraid to fly it at all....

Crabby, it's a Vintage Model Company design. (link above).  No special skills, just nice light low flying planes and luck. You should see all the pictures I have to throw away... I would be bankrupt if they hadn't invented the digital cameras Grin

With a car full of models and the joy of finally seeing the comrades again, we went to the glider airfield Olten "Gheid". I don't need to write anything about the weather, Roman has already done that. And so the model exhibition was set up in the clubhouse: Rubber engine and CO2-powered models, about 30 in number, with eleven participants a considerable fleet.

Leave it to Roman, you can always expect a very good photo coverage...

That is what I did too, counting on him and taking very few pics of the event. Yes, I was there again and it was most enjoyable even though it did not look like that from the begining.

A two hour drive to Switzerland in almost continuous rain had me wondering what am I thinking... Summer in central Europe is unbelievable this year, because it simply isn't summer with all the rain...

Funny enough, the weather in total was good. Yes, damp, but rather windless so a lot of flights took place in the 4-5 hours we stayed there. A total attendance of ten rubber fans was also strong and a large variety of models was to be seen. Scale and non scale, small and large.

Was fun, looking forward to the next one, a bit drier though...

A big thanks to Peter Ziegler for organising this through...

Despite the rain, Georgios got his models flying, as the pictures show.

John, the concept of rain is largely misunderstood. Rain is just sunshine in liquid form. Roll Eyes

But George topped us all in "rain-flying".  He just denied to accept that it is raining. Grin

Thank you all so much for the photos and reports. Gives a really good feel for the event. Great to see the Swiss angle so well represented too.
I think my favourite pic, of all those great shots, might be Roman’s underside view of George’s fat Bellanca in reply #76.
Fave actual model is a lot harder to decide; too many delightful ones!

Easy option for all types of soil. Holds and is made quickly. Typical for Andreas. Smiley
