An hour or so along at the Company aerodrome sorting out the Walthew MK II's hook. Think I've finally got it letting go cleanly. Flat calm evening, albeit getting a bit humid, so easy to get repeatable launches for comparison. Picked up a non-paying passenger at the end of one flight.

Super work Monz. That's quite a vac forming table you've built, is it powered by your vacuum cleaner or does it has its own pump ??
If you need a hand chucking off it Ivinghoe in a strong westerly give me shout

Chris
The vac box had a 1200 x 500 useable bed. I say had as the power of vacuum is incredible and crushed it breaking the 20mm thick timber sides. I have a Titan 1400W shop vac. The Imp will be too big to safely fly off Ivinghoe. The lift will be fine in a good Westerly, but the landing would be too risky at the weight and speed it'll be flying at with the public in such close proximity. So thanks for the offer but I'd rather not risk taking someone out and jeopardising the use of the Beacon for model flying. Especially with all the recent drone bill rubbish.

A weekend of repair and discovery. The Wesland Widgeon has now been repaired after flying into a pole at Richmond NSW the weekend before last. I have also made up a slightly heavier motor as .180 x 2 is not quite enough. The Auster AOP 9 is receiving more details and the preparation of documentation is underway. The 20" Ol' Ironsides has also moved on a bit and I have steamed some wash in on the port wing of the Me 109 and now need to add some right thrust to get to the base Hadland settings. The Comper has had the bottom tissue removed and the bottom longerons that had cracked repaired. The discovery that the fuselage length of the Max Holste Broussard was about 1.5" short was an unexpected surprise that has now relegated the model to sport status. Also the wing was 1/2" too narrow. It was a reduced Fearnley plan, and I had picked up a short nose and corrected that. It is probably altered to much to qualify for AM plan scale. I will finish it and use it to understand the trim settings. The irony is that I had other 3 views that check out dimensionally and agree well with the photos. I wonder what the base reference was for the original plan. The model will take a Redfin 049 or a PAW classic 80. Ricky

Bluebird Ornithopter Flights Last night, Thursday July 24 2019, we snuck out to Jackson Park at about 8:00 PM, with the Bluebird Ornithopter. We make several flights beside the Spitfire and Hurricane replica warbirds trying to get some pics with them, got stuck in trees twice, and rescued by the summer work student girl who climbed the tree for me (she insisted LOL ), and we got a lot of further flights in then after that, when we moved to the Cricket field too, with a lot of nice pic poses there. Full flight report coming up. Pic #1 2638 Flying beside the Fixed-wing WARBIRDS Pic #2 2641 Stuck way up in a tree beside the warbirds. Pic #3 2645 Nice sky. Pic #4 2651 Nice pose with willows, clouds, and blue sky. LASTWOODSMAN Richard

Hi Jim. Jackson Park is in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Here is a link to "Stearman Flight Pics Tour of Windsor/Detroit Area Sept 9 2017" in Outdoor Free Flight Forum , General Discussion here https://www.hippocketaeronautics.com/hpa_forum/index.php?topic=23104.0 Here are a couple of pics from the air.

Unpacked the models from the Geneseo trip and started assessing repairs. Wedell-Williams had a mid-air in the Thompson Mass launch and needs landing gear repairs and a new prop. Wicko hit the dirt between the beans after a max flight and needs prop repairs (or a new one), and the T-28 did a wingover in the wind and needs some wing re-assembly. Should be good for a few afternoon's entertainment...

Air Camper 18" Trimming Flights after new stab.
Well, we got out for some trimming flights, in the evening dead calm 80 deg F (feels like 90 deg F), after having taking out the four strand 1/8" motor (it flew too fast - I have some pics and a report to post), and having put in a two strand 1/8" motor 6" long, prop hook to rear peg is 6 3/4". It is now all trimmed out with just a smidgeon of clay on the left wing tip, and will do just over one half of a very slow nice left hand circle, on only 300 finger winds for flights of 15 seconds, powering down and descending to a soft perfect landing with just a few turns left on the rubber motor. Then I broke the rubber, but I have two new big ones already made up: two strand 1/8" twelve inches long. Winding stooge next time ....
Pic #1 2663 The white flightless female Gypsy Moth has just laid her poison, brown hair covered, egg cluster (500). We have a biblical plague outbreak of this invasive species in Jackson Park - more later. Pic #2 2670 This is a high fast flight on the 4 strand 1/8" motor = bad glide path back to earth. Pic #3 2685 Launch Pic #4 2683 In flight with two strand motor. Pic #5 2684 Same as above. Pic #6 2687 Broken rubber motor.

I've had this on my mind for years now. I saw this sign in a photo of the Gallaudet aircraft factory, Rhode Island. This is my "scale model" of the sign .... I hope that my pilots appreciate it!
