I have been toying with the idea of doing a geared co-axial helicopter so here is what I plan on doing, it is a Hiller X-2-235, I finished making the gear box for it already, the rest is pretty easy.

Cheers, Ray K.

This looks interesting.  Any reduction in this one?

Gear box weighs 7.5 grams, reduction will be either a 4 to 1 or a 5 to 1.

Ok, I modified a 4 to1 gear set, made a silicone mold and casted the new gear set, came out great, set weighs in at 3 grams, it looks like I have finished all mechanical components so all I need to do now is build the model and put this stuff in it and see if it works.

Ray, the molded gears look really neat. What material did you use?

I will follow this thread with interest

Hi piecost,

I use a high strength polyurethane resin, strong stuff, better than plastic or steel.

Hey mark, sorry for the lateness of my reply, yes this would be able to use my mechanics for sure, it is on my list to do.
