I have two Kirn Kraft TD .049's. A 1973, and a 1974.

I was able to determine the year of each TD from a control line construction
article for the Eagle 1, by Jim Wade, from May, 1976 Model Aviation.

Jim Wade’s comments on Cox Crankshafts:

“There doesn’t seem to be any difference in rpm between the different Cox
crankshafts - the 1973 crank had a larger I.D. hole in the shaft, .194” I.D.
compared to the 1974 shaft, .177 I.D. My engine uses the 1973 shaft. But
records have been set with the new shaft. The Open 1/2A Speed record
was set with a 1974 shaft.” Wade, Jim “Eagle 1.” Model Aviation May 1976

They both are in excellent condition, and they still have their clear plastic
jewel boxes. The 73' was purchased as a complete engine and still has the
Kirn Kraft price tag on the jewel box.

My question is should I sell them, or use them? If I sell them, what are they
worth?

The price for purchasing 2 similar TD's for a decent NFFS 2019 one design
contest seems to be difficult and potentially pricey.

I just found an add for the 1974 that I didn't previously know about.
It is from the April 1974 issue of Model Builder.
