Thanks for the pictures Pete, the models are inspirational. The peanut Scout looks like a very nicely built Nolan Aero kit. My own version developed severe elliptic dihedral despite my best efforts, and needed a large fin. It took me 10 years to pluck up the courage to cover the delicate structure. The premade spoked wheels and aluminium cowl that came with the kit were brilliant. It is worth keeping an eye out for these kits.

I also love Pete Smarts Standard J1.

Thanks Pete and Chris for the photos and footage - really good to see flights that I was too busy mucking about at my back-row table to see at the time!

There was definitely a permanent pin-prick of down-draught in the quarter of the hall furthest from the judges - caught lots of fliers out.

I love that civvy SE5A of your's Pete!

Thanks very much, Chris. Most enjoyable. Always surprises me how HUGE that hall looks on the videos, but how close the walls seem when you're actually flying there! Also, whilst it is of course a lottery which flights make it onto film, for the record it should stated that Rich's little Bristol Fighter did fly a few times, rather than just taxi around the floor. That said, it's nice to see a good mixture of successes and tribulations to give a real flavour of the event.

Right, I'm not allowed on this forum again now until I've cut some Comte ribs. Otherwise I'll be turning up at Barkston with a wingless model.

Thank you for pointing that out Pete. The 'flight' in the video went sour because the nose-block was spinning. The Bris-fit managed 3 qualifying flights out of 4, the last flight being the best because I glued the nose-block in and wound it up lots. It is tempting to chase the models when they ground loop, which makes one look silly. I am pleased I had the sense to wait for it to come to me.

Pity- with a bit of Benny Hill music edited into Chris's vid that could have been very entertaining.

A question please... are the results now officially available? ... and where?
I liked the old scale website without all the jigging about that the "modern" BMFA site does. Progress I suppose? ....

I think that even if you were able to navigate the BMFA results rabbit warren and emerge into the light, they probably are not ready yet.

Results will be available very soon - just having them treble checked before "officially" posting on the BMFA website.  I will post here when they are released as we have two computer systems to compare so please bear with us.

It is easy to find them, either from the dedicated Scale site https://scale.bmfa.org which links through to the main BMFA site where results are all held.
OR on the main BMFA site https://bmfa.org.
Go to contest & events tab, scroll down to "contest results BMFA"
Then British National Championships
Then Year - 2019
Then Scale
How hard can that be?
If it is not a nationals, then it would be Scale, then Year and Robert is you aunt's nephew or something.

Thanks John  Smiley ... I must admit I still like old school sites like the previous site, but I will have to get used to it!

Great job at the weekend!  Smiley

Congrats to all the winners.

Would have loved to come up but I was just too knackered from work and couldn't face doing the five hour round trip.

Looks like there were some great new models.

Thanks for the photos and videos.

Can anyone tell me why none of the rule books, results etc. etc. held on the BMFA website will open when i try to access them on my ipad? No problem on my Windows 10 laptop. Is there something i’m not doing, or some limitation on the website or the way the files are saved, ‘cos it’s a real PITA.

Many thanks to John, Mike and all the judges, scorers and IT guys that made it a great Nats. The era of Warburton has passed! Get building John!

There's a mistake in Peanut:  I swapped to the Halberstadt before the event but the results still show my original planned entry, the Andreasson... no wonder I took a hit on static marks!  Grin

I find that the iPad Universe frequently refuses to acknowledge the existence of other life-forms, causing users to resort to bothersome and circuitous methods to access important files.  So if I need to get something from, say, the BMFA Stone Age onto my iPad I first download it onto my laptop or Android phone, send the PDF file as an email attachment to myself which I then pick up on the iPad.

Tedious I agree, but one can't fight City Hall...

He was, but announced he’s now standing down (after 17 years apparently!)

I thought so. That's 17 years of producing and updating the program used and carting his equipment to indoor and outdoor meetings all over the place, so thanks Gordon.
