Hi

Embarrassed to ask this one but creating a hi-start bungee for a RC conversion KK Caprice.

What's the best way to join 1/8" rubber to monofilament fishing line.  I go sea fishing so know how to tie knots ... just not between rubber and mono!  I can lash it up but keeps snapping the rubber.

Just wondering if there's a neat way of doing it?

Cheers

How about using a small metal ring to interface between them?

Yes, a metal ring is what I use too.

Ooops ....assumed that you were using the typ rubber bungee tubing.
Suggest a piece of hardwood dowel  ~1.5 " long  one end with a wee hole drilled into it .. for the string (or whatever)
The other end forcibly inserted into the Bungee tube.
Stretched bungee tube tightens it's grip on the wooden dowel.

A swivel is a nice addition. You get a lot of twists as the flag/parachute drops and a swivel can help avoid tangles between the rubber and mono line.

A paper clip does the job quite nicely with a leash clip at the ground stake end of things.  You can get good corkscrew stakes from pet shops for well under a tenner.  I think I paid about five quid for mine.

Sorry about the rubbish focus on the pics.  Camera playing SBs in poor light.

Hi

Used a small split ring and swivel from my fishing tackle.  Not sure why I didn't think of that before instead of trying to tie them together direct.

15m of 1/8"tan plus 45m of 0.3mm (20lb) monofilament.  The whole bungee hi-start thing worked better than I thought it would last evening with the RC KK Caprice.  Kited up quite nicely in a light breeze.

Trouble was that the model didnt have the penetration ... lucky I had my 'auxiliary power' DF unit mounted to get it back up wind!

The whole thing was a bit of an experiment as I'm not all that experienced with gliders.  The CG is pretty much where it would be for Freeflight ... should I try it further forward and add ballast.  Or just keep it for windless days?

I'll post some pics ...
