June 20-24 2019

Dates for 2019 have already been set.  I'll post a flyer with more details when we're a little closer to the contest.

So this is about 2 1/2 weeks after the indoor Nats which is almost tempting for a trip to do both.

It is too bad for some of us that the dates for the Nats are not June 14-16, 2019.  Then we could take three days to get to Moscow, Idaho, after the Nats rather than either going back home or waiting around for two weeks.

Thanks for the info. That site is a little out of our Nats drive radius as it is 27 hours each way :-)

That's why you need a portable setup that you can take on airliners.  I would never go anywhere but Kibbie if I couldn't take my gear on a flight.

Jake,

A portable setup is great for those with just a few models or who fly in just one (F1D?) or a few classes.  Don and his father bring many, many models to the Nats and compete in many classes.  This makes transport by commercial airlines difficult.

That said, anywhere the Nats are held will present this problem to fliers in other regions of the country.  The above comment is not a complaint but just a fact of life.  Outdoor free flighters have it even worse with larger planes and much larger support equipment, sometimes including chase motorcycles.

Steve Brown has checked his model box for many years without a problem.  A few large pieces of luggage would carry a few dozen models.  Anything other than microfilm models could make the trip with some planning.

I'm currently planning to attend Nats next year, and I'll be bringing much more than just F1D with me on my flight down there.  I need to try and give you and Bill a run for your money in F1L and F1M respectively.

Here's the US team for the 2020 F1D World Champs:
Kang Lee, Evan Guyette, Jake Palmer and current World Champ Brett Sanborn.

Are indoor Nats going to be at the same place next year?
