Hello Group.

I wanted to share a design I came up with for the cub scouts.  Design intent was easy to build, fun to fly, and durable.  This model uses a Skeeter 5.5in prop with thrust bearing, a loop of 3/32" rubber, and 800 winds.

We used these for 2 years and the kids loved them.  We built over 50 of them and they all flew great.  Times ranged from 40 to 58 sec.  We did a flyoff between 5 den winners and then an all up and last down.  Total blast.

It is a nice design and good for one design fun fly events.  I have uploaded it to the builders plan gallery.  Build and enjoy as we have.

Interesting little plane, thanks for posting the plan and info.  Just curious what a typical example weighs?  (much more than the 8 gm min noted on the plan?)   Thanks! Smiley

Most were in the 7 to 9 g range.  Easily built at 5 to 6, but not by a Cub Scout.  The 8gram on the plan was to level the field.  We provided and prewound all motors for the boys.

The printed tissue one in the pic is 6.5 grams.

Sounds awesome.  Let me know if I can be of assistance.  I have the rules that we ran the event with and can help with a lessons learned with 2 events under our belt.

Thanks Archie.  I don't think he's interested in the competitive side of it, more the craft of it.  If any requests for help or info. come my way and I can't handle them I'll gladly take you up on your offer.
