Hi, I am looking for a source of carbon/aluminum tailbooms. The type I'm seeking are normally used on F1A gliders but my application is for electric model fuselages. Approximate specs are 820 mm length and 15 grams weight. Any ideas?

If there is nobody in US/Canada who does them then there is always Mike Woodhouse.

Hi all,

Helpful reply all …. thanks.

1. I've contacted Mike Woodhouse. He is out of the parts I would be interested in. May get some later but no definite date.

2. I'm now waiting for a reply from Matt.

3. Jim Parker: I think I can find his email. Not sure if he is dealing in this type of part, but will attempt to find out.

I have 9 tailbooms that I bought from an estate many years ago. They are all in very good to excellent shape, npo dings or dents, and only one has a very slight rip (.25 inches long) at the wide end. They all, with the exception of number 8 look to be bonded aluminum. Number 8 is aluminum over balsa.

From the attached picture, number one at the top, here are the dimensions (sorry about the imperial measurements):

1) 9.4g   .5 in X .125 in X 27.5 in

2) 8.8g   .5 X .25 X 28.375

3) 9.0g    .5 X .25 X 28.25

4) 7.5g    9/16 X 3/16 X 27.75

5) 7.2g    9/16 X 3/16 X 27.75

6) 9.9g    9/16 X .25  X 28

7) 8.4g   9/16  X .25  X 28.75

Cool 10.1g  (Balsa/Al) 7/8 X .25 X 26.5

9) 17.7g 5/8 X .25 X 32

PM me if you are interested. We can haggle over price.
