Glider? You or your buddy must have a heck of a slope.

Here is my repair thread on my much loved LB. I very happy that I took some of the weight out with the laminated hoops. This is a simple process and I would recommend that you look into doing much the same. (I for one hate lightening holes in wood sheet)
