Hi Pete,
The most entertaining CU ever (or maybe I should say .....so far.........)! You have something else 'up your sleeve' for later in the year??
Cheers, Don

Hi Guys
I'm still on the Mooney A-1...But it's not an A-1 after all. Looks now like a Mooney A-2 (also referred to as Mooney M5) - see notes from Aerofiles (pic 1). The reg number is listed as X463N which seems to match the best pic of the M5 (pic 2) that I'm using. WM's peanut plan has a different engine/exhaust system and looks like a different rego. So I'm going with X463N (pic 3). Maybe not really a Mooney model at all. But still a Mooney!
Tim

David, That has a sort of hollow ring in Australia especially Victoria while we are all on edge as the number of near misses we have had is making everone nrevous as does the commercial interests trying to open up entry from known hot spots. Retired politicians do not necessarily show better wisdom. One thing there will be no shortage of Mooney plans to build. Hope you are still self isolating! Ricky

Thanks Don. Who knows what cook-ups will follow? I’m rather hoping George might start a chubby Bostonian one. This cook-up was entertaining thanks to the whole-hearted way people threw themselves into it, and still are of course; I’m really liking the Mooney A1/A2/M5, Tim!

Sorry Ricky - did not mean to cause any concern or consternation! Having had s=close contacts with Doctors etc. and a son who is an 'ologist with one of the big pharmas., from whom I get the facts rather than the tripe offered by the press and TV etc. I am well aware of how serious the situation of Covis is. We have had some serious moments here of course although Norfolk has so far been fairly clean. it comes home a bit when like us you lose someone who you have known for very many years who lived in the south of the Country where it seems things were rather more uncertain due possibly to the behaviour of some of the inhabitants from what friends tell us. I have not had to self isolate thankfully and we have throughout done our own shopping etc. rather than use volunteers who were busy enough. We did in fact have a letter from the local authority pointing out were vulnerable with a list of contacts etc. Rather thoughtful of them but I have to admit to feeling a bit miffed. We kept to the rules and guidelines, which were eminently sensible and easy to follow, so it was all relatively straightforward. However we are not out of the woods yet. Once again then sorry for my apparent flippancy - blame my age...... Oh and i did manage some flying - with a couple of chums as shown in the picture - only the three of us there so no problem keeping the distance. PS Did somebody mention a Bostonian? There is rather a nice model called the "Chub" by some bloke called Fardell - been meaning to have a go at that for ages. It makes me grin everytime I look at the plan!

Thank you for the reply I did wonder how you were getting on. You have clearly been closely watched by family. My oldest daugher works for GSK and has kept me up to date on the UK and provided additional guidance! . We were very fortunate to get control, but a small country can react more quickly especially if most people follow the rules. Also our cities are less densly packed and less relaint on the public transport system. I returned from the UK on the 22 Feb and there was checking of where you had come from at the border, especially Asia. Stay safe and well. Ricky

You are welcome Ricky - yes basically we have been OK but frankly I don’t think it is that difficult if you follow the rules. As always it is the boneheads who foul things up. I envy NZ - about the same size but a population of only 5m against ours of 65m. and multi cultural at that.
You stay safe too. David.

Thanks Pete - bits of plastic and wire insulation covered with epoxy. Messy and heavy! Don't think I will do it that way again. Anyway, finally got to the end! Lots of things went wrong and had to be re-done - but finally finished three WMs - thanks to this thread - which was great fun. And now have something to fly when the weather improves... Tim

I really like that Tim, the B&W photo suits it perfectly too. It will be very interesting to hear how trimming it goes.
A perfect trio of Mooney models!

Hi all - a couple of test flights today with Walt Mooney's Al Mooney A-1 / A-2 / M5 aircraft. A nice day with not much wind and a few Ferris Bueller hours off before new contract starts to play with the new machine! https://youtu.be/LsUS57j10eATim

Tim that has got to be a great little flyer. For the first two flights it shows you are almost there. Our weather has been rubbish and we are not out of level 3 yet so we cannot fly indoor yet wso the Renard and Sparrowhawk have not seen any action. Ricky
