This has always been a favorite. I used to convert them to U-control flyers.

I like looking for the unusual and thought that this kit would make a good starting point in trying to build the V19 swept wing proposal. As it turned out, this proposal was a significant departure from the original design and so not much was usable. The plan was helpful for basic dimensions. I won't be using the plastic parts either.

Work is well under way. Same 16" wingspan as the kit, landing gear up, and I'll use a early color scheme.

If nothing else, it certainly is different! Lots of unusual designs as the war wound down.

Hi

Point of interest ... the war didn't actually wind down, it wound up.  I believe 30-50% of the people that died in WW2 died in e last six months, or thereabouts.  Average life expectancy of a tactical airforce pilot or infantry man wasn't much better than First World War.  Happy to be corrected on that one.

Nice model.  Interested to see what it looks like when finished.

Cheers

That particular Guillows kit was my re-introduction to stick and tissue modeling after a 12-year lay off.  Grabbed it off a floundering Hobby Shop shelf, got some aeroglos dope and built it right out of the box.  Flew poorly, but just wanted to stick something together.  It was somewhere around Spring of 1974.  Looked at Model Airplane News and saw only rc.  Finally discovered Model Builder, Peanut Scale, Fernando Ramos, Bill Hannan, and Peck Polymer kits.  I was reborn!
