She has been gaining weight....I'm working on the undercarriage....those wheels pants!...a geebee cannot be without the iconic chubby wheel pants. But my question....I'm working them up in balsa wood, but....should I try a vacuum plastic route? Right now, batt and gear inside, wheels and pants, but no covering....20oz for 252sq inches...
Should I re engineer the pants?,,,I'm going to cut some lightening holes in those solid sheeted tailfeathers....

What span is this Marc? I calculate around 11.8 oz/ft2 - and for a small model and I think that may be getting a little heavy. I have flown a 20" WS at 10oz/ft2 and it wasn't too bad but was fast with a corresponding high stalling speed.

Vac formed spats may be a help as you suggested.

37"...IM ready to test her~ minus the spats/pants. if we get a good flight, then i'll vac form the nose, spats n pants. if she's to fat...then I may rebuild the wing as the plan said....no ailerons..........or just take my radio out and give her to a friend for a .09 gas job..........THAT would be a racer!!!!!!

WITH the needed nose weight...she has grown to 24oz...........
we will see what my friend can do......if nothing else, I will swap that little electric, put a bigger motor and batt.and have a real 'racer'............

IF she flys...I will call her the 'Pig'.....I'm kinda thinking the motor will need swapped out for a powerhouse....and we then can rip around the sky's....and when she gets totaled out....I will build a mig 3 for the radio gear.....not in love with this pig.....

Marc - does it have built up tail surfaces or are they solid sheet? You may be able to loose some weight back there.

John, the plans did call for solid tail feathers...and I cut lightening holes, saved .6gm....but IF I build another...contemporary stick tail feathers, NO sheeting until 1" firewall...box fuse w/o formers, and no ailerons....vac formed pants for landing gear.....
Live n learn....these plans are from last century....were you built them strong, and heavy
I have some plans for the push-pull Dornier German plan, something in 60" wingspan....you should see the lumber!
THATS on plane in the future.....maybe in another 10yr
