Nearly lost my West wings Sapphire yesterday because of my negligence. The elastic bands pulling up the stabiliser had weakened and a head wind was enough to push it back down. So as it circled downwind it popped up and started to descend, then turned upwind and climbed again.
I had to walk half a mile over ploughed fields to retrieve the model (and walk back as well). Good exercise.

Welcome to the club! I've forgotten how many duration models I've lost and they all had D/Ts, even the HLGs. After all, you can still build another to keep you busy!

I already lost one Sapphire (18 minutes OOS), because it had a fuse D/T and there was lots of dry grass about so I didn't dare light it.

Switched to viscous or mini clock timers just for that reason.  Don't want to start a fire, don't want to lose a model.

Gassers of course use a Texas MAX-III combo.

I use Tomy timers now for that reason. The timer worked fine, it was the rest of the system that failed (my fault).
