Hi All,

I've got some Waco SRE bones in search of a color scheme.

There was an SRE at the Little Norway base, but I can't find any documentation of what it looked like.

If any Google sleuths out there have better luck than I did, I'd love to know what colors it was sporting.

Best,

I bet it had some red/white/blue stripes on the wings and vertical ;-)

There is a PT-26 in their colours here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Norway#/media/File:Little_Norway_PT-19.jpg

Can't help with color info, sorry.  Have you tried contacting the National Waco Club?  They can probably help narrow it down.  There weren't many SREs built, altho' some ARE and HRE models may have been converted to the SRE engine configuration.  This list of "E" series is probably accurate, and is from Juptner's U.S. Civil Aircraft Vol 8, p.59.  (The SU registered one went to Egypt).Good luck!

Love that scheme, Ian, and am hoping the SRE had something similar.  Would feel better if I could find a photo . . .

Good advice!  I just got my National Waco Club newsletter, which has the Bill Lear SRE on the cover.  (Loening yellow with red trim and a black pinstripe).

For anyone interested, another query yielded these pictures.

Now the next questions have to be:  What color was it? and Did it ever get the blue fuselage and yellow wings so many of the other Little Norway aircraft did?

Best,

Scot

You can see the pt-26 in the background of the second pic. The shades in B/W look to be the same, so I would assume that they are the same colours as the pt-26 of which we have colour photos.
