I'm am starting to cart all the files from my old computer to the one that my lad has set up for me.
I need to get all the software updated too, but in the meantime I had a look through my old videos and photos.
I'm reasonably sure that I have not uploaded this before:

Mike Smith at Barkston Heath in 2007 .... hopefully Bill can fill in the blanks as it is fairly obvious that he was there!

Mike's o/400 started out as electric but later he changed it to twin PAW diesels to fly in the Superscale (and his DH10 in electric). Certainly the o/400 is one of the easiest models to trim - it's a biplane F1A with engines.
Looking forward to more Russ!

I think it was at the Festival of Flight 2007?
Here's a still of the model. I have to admit that I was puzzled as to why Mike used IC props at the time instead of electric ... cannot argue with the result though!

A couple more for now. What troubles me is that a lot of these pre HPA and Facebook era photos have not been posted at a later date ... I have a lot to post!

Bill will have a better appraisal.
I've seen it fly well and not so well .... I think they do work within limits but just the words of the spectator.
I have a great video of it doing a 'low pass' that I have not posted in full ever in case H&S make a fuss ... I've just looked at it again actually and it looks more amusing than dangerous, but just in case.

Super looking Spad and I really hope you do post the video too, Russ, if Bill gives his blessing. I just love a Spad.

I haven't seen that, either, Russ. By coincidence the SPAD and 0/400 were two of my most successful models.  That was its first outing, at Old Warden, and it just did a couple of circuits because contrary to appearance it was quite crowded. I only had a MkII ED Bee and it wasn't much good. David very generously gave me a nice Mk1 and thereafter it must have made 50+ flights that summer until it was turned upside down by the Woodvale turbulence and was destroyed. There's only so much a pendulum can do!
I had changed the pendulum on the plan, which I was very sceptical of, to one at 10 degrees below horizontal as used by Fernando Ramos. I didn't make too good a job because the wire torque shafts to the ailerons were a bit twisty. The photos show a small amount of dihedral in flight but the only time the model failed to fly was when I locked up the pendulum to see what would happen.
I'd like to do another but with a better pendulum because it was a spectacular flyer. I can still see it at Church Fenton taking off into a blazing sunset before coming round holding into wind overhead in the sun.
These photos are by Laurence Marks.

Yes, I saw that flight ,,, that was the 'not so well' I referred to! I have a collection of small clips from that event but not the Spad.
I have resisted putting them together as some kind of 'fail' video, but I think it does show how even the experienced flyer has their problems.
I think it was Terry Manley's Strutter (?) that was guided towards me by the turbulence ... twice!

Nice photos by Laurence as always.

I miss the tent at Woodvale, distinctive by its colour cast. Photos from the 2005 event.
Bill's Spad
Terry Manley's Strutter

Here's a few clips edited together to illustrate the turbulence Bill mentions at Woodvale in 2005.
Earlier days with a digital camera for me. The camera zoom had to be set ... at full zoom in this case, so things are not quite as close as they look  Wink

I lost a lot of files from 2007 to 2009 when my external drive failed .. I have managed to find some of them on the camera cards  Smiley

I've never really posted many RC models, but I can't resist posting this one.

Yes, I wasn't sure if he was judging or if it was his model  Smiley
The standard of the models at this event was awe inspiring.

Another video I've put together. This time it's Pete Iliffe fun flying at the 2007 FF Nationals.

Pete would always gather a small crowd and was always keen to chat  Smiley
Not a bad flight for what was really an indoor model (later converted to RC)
