I decided to call my new Embryo design "Ukrainian Resistance"  (inspired by Cleveland Models "Polish Valor" at the beginning of WW2.) and when in kit donate $5 of every kit sold to Ukrainian relief.

The sketch and video are of the first prototype.  The changes I need for production are already on the board and I should have it tested next Wednesday and in kit by the end of next week.

The video isn't the greatest but you get the idea.

Neat looking Embryo. I like the swept back wings.

Does that windshield configuration meet the requirements for the bonus points? It doesn't appear to have enough "angle."

OTOH, it could be made as an open cockpit with a windscreen and headrest.

Suggest appropriate, recognizable pilot figure or choice of pilot figure.

Indoorflier,

I've redrawn it to have a bonus point qualified step windshield and also to open the nose up a bit more.  The nose block was awkwardly small and it is now big enough for a blast tube and a reverse S-hook prop shaft.  I have that one on the board and if it flies as well at the OFFC meeting next Wednesday it goes right into kit.  However, the open cockpit idea is not bad.  Cool

Lincoln,

Were you thinking of a profile of Zelensky?

Yes. Also an old lady with a bag of sunflower seeds, and that guy on their new stamp. For Bowdler family friendly sites, his hand could be fuzzy. Or, if we have any idea what the Ghost of Kiev looks like...

Lincoln,

Do you think one of these would do?

Yes, but I'm no judge. I think the guy on the stamp needs to turn 90 degrees.

The parts sheets have been finalized, plan redrawn and as soon as I have the assembly instructions re-edited the kit will be released.

As soon as I release it, I'm shooting for next Wednesday, May 04, it will be available at my web site,  hjlmodels.com.

I was going to suggest the next one be called Impedance, but then it would have to be Russian.

Doing a final build of the production version to make sure that my assembly instructions are correct and that it can be built with PVA glue.  (I've been accused of designing some models that have to be built with CA.)  Shooting for 5/04 release.

PVA will work anywhere that CA does!

It's just that sometimes the "stand around holding bits until the glue cures" stage of construction takes -- longer.

Is that generic jet jockey gear, or actual Ukrainian jet jockey gear?

Tim,

I drew it looking at a photo of a Ukrainian jet jockey, however, considering the size I have to print it in the drawing is, necessarily, simplified.  The glue I used is Titebond Thick and Quick, a modified PVA with high tack and a very quick set.  You don't use very much, it doesn't take that much longer than building with CA and is great for those who are CA sensitive.

Here is a "bones shot" of the production version.  It has been completed and test flown with the same "flying on rails" stability as the original.  Haven't had a chance to photo the completed one yet but will be releasing the kit at tonight's Black Sheep meeting. It will be on my web site, hjlmodels.com , tomorrow.

Here is the production version of Ukrainian Resistance finished and tested. It flies just like the original prototype but is easier to build and gets all the FAC bonus points.  It was released at the Black Sheep meeting in Burbank tonight (Wednesday) and will be available from my web site tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

Looks good!

Regarding "flying on rails", aren't most rails at extremely low altitude? ;-p

I saw that in the thread, just now.  Not sure what sound a foot makes coming out of a mouth, but just imagine it...
