First attempt to edit a movie in iMovie.  One handed launches are tricky too.  Flying the Jimmie Allen Bluebird Racer/Scarlet Tanager at Palm Bay this morning.

Nicely trimmed Duncan. It seems to have almost continuous gentle wing rock - it doesn't upset the glide though!

Beautiful flight with the Bluebird Racer Duncan!  I love that design - was admiring Matt King's build of it at WestFAC.  I have a partial Wanner's kit of it in the stash (got it in the same lot as the Wedell-Williams racer), came complete with dried up colored dope, cement, banana oil and some of the most vibrant tissue I've ever seen.  I plan to build it some day using original parts where I can.

A great bit of trimming- taking a new plane out and maxing it!

Thanks Wally, but I had a lot of help from some very buoyant air.  Not much trimming required - it flew well with just a few small adjustments to the cg and a bit of downthrust.  I'm just happy I got it back!

Finally got my Fairchild 71 to fly. My first scratch build and it's been educational. Luckily got some help along the way. I thought it was Wop Mays "mad trapper "plain, but now I see it's not. Oh well, it flies tight circles looking for Albert Johnson.

Not bad - that first flight was nice. The remaining flights were on less winds? I feel a tad more nose weight would have it just about spot on.

These are photos from the free flight mass launch (aka - ‘the chuck-n-duck’) at the BMFA Nationals in August this year. The first two are of my Doug McHard designed and electrified Wee Snifter and the second of my friend’s Twin Gyro, a 1975 design by Bob Brown and electrified, photographed by another good friend.

My photographer friend also took some stunning pictures of the free flight scale contest flying, I’ll probably post those somewhere on the scale forum!

Thanks John, the Wee Snifter literally required no ballasting or trimming at all, it simply flew! The Twin Gyro needed a slight reduction in the downthrust and a 1/8” increase in the wing incidence. Shortly after these pictures were taken, the Wee Snifter unfortunately hit a hard-headed observer who was failing to observe his surroundings properly and the starboard wing panel was smashed in two. I’ve built a new wing for it and it’s ready to fly again but the weather’s not been up to a re-maiden with the new wing yet!

The Lurker Industries' Kinematography Club was invited to join a select group of aeronautical modelling enthusiasts at a gymnasium in one of Britain's larger market towns today and managed to get some footage of some of these elite flyers and their machines.

Or... had a fun day at Trinity today.

Having fixed the wobbly nose-button my Lacey M-10 flew very nicely indeed thank you very much.  Pete'n'Pugs took some footage of my M-10 which I hope he'll post on YouTube or similar.  For those who are interested.  Two strands of 3/32", 1300 turns, 2mm rudder deflection => 46s inc. ROG. Thirteen hundred turns gives a decent altitude without troubling the rafters.

Well, it's not a proper hat, but it does keep the chill winter wind off my bald old bonce.

I do have two or three more clips of Abl's machine which was flying very well indeed, but the "free" Vimeo account limits both the total filesize and weekly upload filesize.
