Have heaps of power models, from Cox.010 power, F1Cs Rossi power, Open with 5cc, several Vintage models, inc. Playboy Snr. etc.etc.
To kick this section off pics of my BLACK MAGIC I built 18 months ago.
A truly beautiful design and a fabulous flyer on the Burford Sabre 250 diesel. It will stooge around like a controline model or climb fast at a 45% angle depending how hard you run the engine. Glides very well too and is fitted with a Seelig timer. Would hate to lose it.

I'm glad to see the Power board opened up at last!

Nice model, Gossie .. .an outstanding design for its time.

but, what's written on the stab TE? I enlarged, rotated ... but still can't make it out!

Phone number. Don't try it though, it's been changed. Was the Virginbroadband wireless #.
Have my cell phone # on it as well.  Must remove that # before flying it next.

Nice model! Looks like a Keilcraft model. Was it?

Tmat
-an old family friend used to have an r/c model that looked a lot like the Black magic. It was a Keilcraft...hmmm. can't remember!

Oh, Gee Howard .. what can we do about these callow youths still wet behind the ears? Tony was a cute young lad when I first met him in 1980 .... polite, too ...

Tutorial: "'Black Magic" is a design by one Fred Hempsall, published in Aeromodeller in September 1947, then powered with an Ohlsson .23 sparkie. A timeless design.

The KK model by a family friend .. a big one? The 8' span "Falcon' has a passing resemblance in some way and was of about the same time period, though it was actually a blatant ripoff of the Shereshaw 'Cloud Cruiser'

The Junior 60 was a bit too angular - almost ugly, to be confused with the Black Magic - it may well have been the much later "Super 60" which was actually a completely different design.

Here endeth the lesson. You may now prepare for the next class

Ah yes, the pupil has realized the error of his ways! Grin
I think it was the Super 60. And I still think it looks similar to the Black Magic. Well, according to my rusty memory that is!

Wasn't there a Frog kit that bore more of a resemblance to the Black Magic (than any KK kit)?

Nice looking model that one. Don't have the plan and have seen one. Only pics in old mags.

FROG did kit the CENTURIAN, 59" span cabin model, scaled up FROG 45 (by Van Hatten) that has a passing resemblance to the Black Magic. I have the redrawn fullsize plan (2 sheets) listed on my website (see AA Plans). Don't try to build from the original kit plan too many mistakes to mention Shocked

As a further to, below is the side and plan view of the Centurion. You can make up you own mind.

It's not unlike BLACK MAGIC, perhaps just a little leaner or is that more streamlined?
Nice model though. Never seen one either.
