Sunday will see KMFC host a race day for Diesel Goodyear and Sabre trainer racing at its St Ives Showground site in Sydney.

All welcome.

Yet another successful day of diesel Goodyear and Sabre trainer racing at KMFC , today.
There were 7 diesel Goodyears and 2 Sabre trainers. Greggles might know the bloke who had an engine issue that was later found to be a dodgy batch of fuel Wink I managed 2 loops with my diesel Goodyear when the pushrod became detached after a refueling stop. It all came to an abrupt holt, luckily with minimal damage to the model - a broken prop, bent undercarriage, detached elevator and some minor body dings. I think I've invented a new class: diesel Goodyear stunt!
The weather was great with a sunny sky and a mild breeze. Hugh Simons, fresh from his win at the world championships in France, came along and we all saw his winning model, the trophy and his medals. I think an Enya 15 MKiv would weigh more than his model and engine combined.

Wal,

After the races were over we managed to rustle up some 25% oil fuel, and soon had the new model down to 28/10. Definite potential there. Flies like its on rails. Grin Grin Grin

Sorry about the time it's taken to get back. Attached is a pic of my version of the Sabre. Generally they don't have a piped speed motor. In fact legal racing spec is pb 15's I'll try to get pics at the next event for them in October.

Diesel Goodyear look remarkably like a "regular" Goodyear with a Diesel motor. Pics when we meet again.

Sorry I forgot the camera last time.

Maybe some will show up for out CLUB racing day on 21 September.

Just curious... I have a truck that runs on veggie oil. [diesel] Can you tell me a little about the diesel fuel mixture you would run with an engine that small?

G'day Thyme,

Model diesels are more properly called compression ignition, and have little real relationship with automotive diesels.

Fuel mixture is Ether, Kero and Oil in various amounts. You could write a book about the proper percentages of each, depending on the proposed use. The practical range of component mixes is from equal amounts of everything, to as little as 10% oil, 30 % ether and 60% kero.

The components are Oil for lubrication, Kero for power (therfore the more the better) and ether to ignite the mixture.

it's worth having a look to see if you can find a place where diesel teamracers fly. Have a look at the you tubes in the thread about the best pit.

regards

Hey Greg,
We're having a practise this Saturday at KMFC flying with 4 or 5 up in the same circle. This is in preparation for our attempt on the Gordon Burford day to establish a record for the most c/l models flying around a circle at the same time. It's preferable if we all use the same length lines... Grin

KMFC, held a very successful diesel Goodyear race day yesterday. This class continues to attract good numbers of entries. Sabre trainers and club racers were also run.

Highlight of the day was the DGY final. 4 up for 200 laps. Way too much fun to be entirely legal Cheesy
