Hi all,
In 2009 I designed and built the Zéfiro (Zephyr). It's a 2 channel (rudder elevator) stick and tissue glider for hi start.
Well, I would never belive that an all-balsa and Ezaki model could fly on the slope, but the model is tough and faced the wind.
I asked to my friend and great pilot Marcos Quito to pilot the model and I took this video yesterday at Pirapora do Bom Jesus.

Very nice Alvaro!

Could you provide some details? What is the wing span? What airfoil section did you use?

Hi Jon,
The Zéfiro has a wingspan of 88.6 cm with a wing area of 10 square decimeters. Its weight to launch with hi-start is 120g, but on the hill I added ballast and it flew weighing about 160g.

I chose this airfoil because I had seen free flight models designed by my professor Omar Grassetti to beat the wind with low drag and good lift.

Dave,
Thank you for your compliment. The scenery is truly amazing.
Yesterday (Sept. 25) I was again at Pirapora do Bom Jesus to fly with my friends. The wind was strong and I decided to leave the Zéfiro in the car. I flew with my Zagi. My friend MacCross (who has a Scottish name but he is Portuguese) made the video and photos.
Note the wind speed and eucalyptus bent.
