More from Keith and nose length clarification

More from Keith
On the following page a diagram illustrates one basic way of designing gliders. Use it as a starting point for you to design your own gliders.

The one-third, two third Theory of Model design is based on the size of the wing you choose to build. The staff span is 1/3 of the wingspan. The stab chord is 2/3 of the wing chord. The nose is 1/2 inch to 1 inch longer than the wing chord. The moment arm distance is 1/2 of the wingspan. The rudder height is 1/4 the stab span. The longer the moment arm, the less the stab and rudder can be. The shorter the moment arm, the smaller flight circle can be achieved.
Building gliders with solid construction techniques and accuracy (no warps) is the first step to flying them into thermals.

Wow...a blast from the past....I was a BEAMS member back in the 1990s when I worked in the Seattle area...did you know Keith? Are you in SAM 8 or Beams?

Thanks

Sorry to disappoint you Jeff Renz

It would have been great if you had made a connection with an old club member. I wasn't a member. I wished I would have known Keith, He must've been an amazing fellow.
I happen to hear about BEAMS club,
of Boeing engineers and found the old website on the Way Back Machine or Internet Archive beams.ws

Are you still in Seattle?
I live in Denver
