Scoresheet Databases for Small Club Competition

Like most groups of aeromodellers we hold “party games” (competition is far too strong a word) every now and again and getting the results collated quickly and correctly before the end of the session has proved a bit hit and miss. So a simple little DB to take the donkey work out of result tracking and ensure that there were no arithmetic errors seemed like a good idea.

Introduction
Two LibreOffice databases are provided. See below for more information on LibreOffice.
• ResultsAssignedStaticScore.odb
• ResultsPageantRanking.odb

Both allow for
• An unlimited number of competitors.
• Multiple models per competitor.
• An arbitrary number from 1 to whatever suits the CD of scoring flights.
• Optional ROG bonus for each flight.

Both provide a Results report which does the arithmetic & sorting into order.

The ResultsAssignedStaticScore database allows you to assign a static points score to each model according to the rules of the event.

The ResultsPageantRanking is a, “Trinity Peculier”. It allows an arbitrary number of rankings from 1 to 5 to be assigned to a model in place of a fixed static score. We use this scheme so that each person at the meeting can take part in the static “judging” by wandering around and ranking his or her top 5 models according to taste.

Scoring is very simple.
Score = static points + sum (flight times + ROG)

Libre Office
This is a free suite of applications (word processor, database, spreadsheet and slide show) that runs on Windows, Linux and Mac and it can be downloaded from
https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/

There is no subscription, no licence fee, no “account” activation nor does it, “phone home” and it can handle Microsoft format documents and spreadsheets extremely well if you’re forced to deal with them.
