I built several of these

I flew these with the designer Clive Wienker in Washington state back in the early 1990s. Clive designed a great model. This was my first rubber powered model that actually flew quite well. I watched several kids built these during that time. They could get these to fly.

My first Successful Outdoor Free Flight Model Airplane.

I built my first Island flyer from a kit and covered it in a nice light gray tissue paper - Big Mistake. On its very first flight it hit a thermal and rapidly disappeared among the gray clouds never to be seen again. At the next model club meeting a good friend brought in a milk carton with a picture of an Island Flyer on it with the caption: "Have you seen me? Last seen flying over 60 acres heading south." I am currently building my 4rth Island Flyer.
