American Eagle 'Eaglet' (REVISED)
Description: This is my interpretation of the 1930's ultralight airplane.
This model has a wingspan of 60 inches and was designed for R/C Electric, with 3 channel control (Elevator, Rudder and Throttle)
If you find any mistakes on the drawing, or have suggestions for improvements, please PM me.

Great Minds...

Sweet, Ice. Just finished a rendition in P-nut. Might put it on the next-to-build list (after Vickers Viget currently on the board).

Construction/Flying notes

A few notes:

1) The C/G should be about 1/2 inch aft of the main spar.

2) I've found that the3/16 sq. top longeron, where the cabane struts attach (I just wrapped them with thread and epoxy) needs some reinforcement. I glued a 3/16 sq bass wood strip to the top of the longeron.

3) The airplane is very sensitive in both yaw and pitch. (esp. Pitch)

4) The airplane has a very narrow speed range. It won't fly very fast, and it won't fly very slow. I found that with a Outrunner 400, a little over half throttle works great.

5) It has a wicked stall. Try stalling with plenty of altitude.

6) Keep it level (don't flare) on landing. Just let it fly onto the ground. I keep just a little throttle, until just before touchdown. It will do very pretty wheel landings.

7) If I were to build another, I would add ailerons. With rudder/elevator, it visibly skids around the turns.

8) If you build one, I would love to know how it came out!

Measure

Snapman:

Yes, the drawing is 1/1 Scale.

(Dimensions are approximate)

1/16 = 1.5mm
3/32 = 2.5mm
1/8 = 3.0mm
3/16 = 5.0mm
1/4 = 6.5mm
3/8 = 9.6mm
1/2 = 12.7mm
